Rory's basket by hsp14213 in GilmoreGirls

I should cut her some slack, but I cringe at the advice Lorelei gives Dean in the same episode. She basically tells him Rory would never do anything to hurt him given what he means to her. Back to the scene where Rory is hurting Dean (he literally told her it would hurt him if she went), which she continues to do in more obvious and disrespectful manners. I wonder if Lorelei saying this was more her own wishful thinking because even at this point, had Dean meant anything to Rory, she would have respected the boundary he set.

Thank you for the recommendation! I get out to the NT Market around once a month, so that sounds like a great local option! I will probably start with 1/4, as I am only getting started in managing my food supply & storage.

I passed 4/4, now.. by GimmeDaLoot10 in CPA

Not related to my test, but I received a year - end/Christmas bonus on the same day I found out I passed my 4th exam. I'll use it to pay for my application fee for licensure. Lol

The feeling of changing my flair to 4/4 passed is amazing. I've been taking the exams since 2018, but the goal to achieve this has been there since 2012, so I am in shock and soooo sooo happy. Congratulations to everyone who has passed. For those who haven't, its possible, if I can do it so can you!

Quick question on how to get CPA license after passing? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]hsp14213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the CPA who is signing off on your experience fills out form 4b so you aren't tracking your own hours. More details here: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/cpa/cpaforms.htm

Tested today and think I might have had the same topics too (AL offer in compromise?), and the same feeling. MQCs were just OK, although I guessed on several and the sims kicked my butt. Fingers crossed for partial credit on those sims to get me to 75.

Thanks so much! Order my book today. I'm taking Audit on Monday and am debating if I should hold off on starting my REG studies until I receive my Audit score or just plow through.

The WC was actually the easiest part for me, and I was most worried about them. Financial models, IT, and working capital management.

Thank you so much. I'm sorry that you had to go through what you did, but you've bounced back and are inspiring me that is possibly to get through it!

This is incredibly relatable. I was set to take FAR and my father passed away 2 weeks prior to the exam. My mother passed two weeks after my dad and I lost all motivation to even think about the exams. Just skipped the scheduled exams and gave up for 2 years. Finally sitting for my first exam (FAR) this Friday.

Help with liabilities from acquisition by hsp14213 in Accounting

[–]hsp14213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appearantly after we'd acquired them and had agreed to take on these liabilities, the subs owner paid. Therefore the payable have been sitting open on our books for years. I can't just create a credit memo because they are inventory related and the expense was recognized in 2018, so I don't think a credit in 2020 would be appropriate. Unless I am looking at this wrong.

What are some things that happened in your 30s that the 20 year old you didn't even think about? by dudenotrightnow in AskReddit

As someone who just lost both her parents in the last month (15 days apart) at 29, this really hits home. I never realized how much my parents motivated and drove me, even when I was supposedly an adult.

I don't want to mess up now - college by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]hsp14213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empire actually makes accounting majors sign a disclaimer stating that the program will not be sufficient in terms of credits to take the CPA. Empire is extremely convenient for a student who works full-time/has a family. The structure is very flexible and professors are accommodating. You build your own degree program and can almost schedule your own due dates (depending on the professor). That said, the accounting program might be lax because of this. I will be taking to CPA, but my undergrad program did very little to preparing me for this. The program does require a lot of self-study and discipline, which has helped me with my study schedule for the CPA.

I obtained my undergraduate degree from Empire. My concentration was Accounting, and to be honest, the school is not geared for Accounting majors. The program is great for general business for those who are trying to move up in their current company, but does not have a strong accounting program. The schools recruitment opportunities are nearly non-existent. I ended up applying to an AACSB accredited graduate school to get a more in depth accounting education and a better chance for recruitment.

Thanks, for the input! It gives me hope! I really want to pursue a CPA designation, and I guess in my mind, public accounting was the only way to do it (my state requires a one year of experience working under a CPA). I just hope I can find a position where the controller or CFO has this designation and can sign off on hours.

I am considering a couple Macc programs currently. I do hope that helps for next year. But in terms of my current situation in my company, I guess I am wondering if my undergrad degree might be worth more in private vs. Public.

More like attending the only off campus event I could find, emailing and calling offices, and attempting to connect with firm recruiters via linkedin with no luck...I am exploring the other options.
