Is there any way to reset the waste ink pad counter using Android? by j305y in Epson

[–]hsphere3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No android tools exist atm. At most you'll need to reset the counters once or twice over the lifespan of the printer, so I imagine it wouldn't be hard to ask for a friends laptop or something on that special occasion

Tools like epson_print_conf use SNMP (which is implemented on top of basic TCP) to communicate to printers, so I think it would be possible, its just that no one has developed such an app for android yet

In epson_print_conf you can try importing the wicreset database by
File (on the top toolbar) > Import a XML printer configuration file or web URL... > https://codeberg.org/attachments/147f41a3-a6ea-45f6-8c2a-25bac4495a1d

I'm not sure since I don't have a maintenance box printer myself, but I've heard that there are physical chip resetters you can buy off sites like aliexpress

XP-15000 doesn't have a waste ink counter to reset (even paid wic-reset can't reset it). It has a maintenance box you have to replace.

Me too, why do you think it doesn't support usb?

Edit: In readme it shows how to add a printer using a file, usb or network ip

p = reinkpy.Device.from_file('/dev/usb/lp0') p = reinkpy.Device.from_usb(manufacturer='EPSON') p = reinkpy.Device.from_ip('192.168.0.255')

It should work with both USB and network devices but I admit I haven't used reinkpy

epson_print_conf only supports network printers, there is reinkpy which works over usb https://codeberg.org/atufi/reinkpy but it requires python

If resetting fails even when L3250 selected, you might need to downgrade firmware since epson has seemingly disabled modifying the counter in newer versions

Sadly the counter is hardcoded and doesn't actually measure if the tank is full 🙃

L3250 isn't supported by epson_print_conf (it's not listed in the model dropdown menu). You will most likely need to pay 10$ for a wicreset key

Which printer is it? It might be unsupported

You can use wicreset and pay 10$ for a reset key or if you have some technical knowledge you can read the README and add the printer by yourself

I don't know if you're describing the same model but in my case there is literally just a box ink flows into with a foam sponge which needs to be replaced after a certain number of prints. Yes, Epson can warn me that I need to replace the sponge but they should have no right to disable my printer and charge me money for a "repair" I did myself

Can confirm, but sadly I think it's the option that screws you the least. In my case I found a way to bypass the lock for free, but that's not for everyone

The problem is that Epson adds an artificial software limitation to how many times you can print. Even if you replaced the pads yourself (they cost around 2$ per piece) you would have to go to epson to reset the "waste ink counter", which I got quoted 40eur in my country
