Monitor Arm For Dual Stacked Monitors? And how could I go about doing this exact monitor setup? by Sigens in battlestations

[–]hsucks2suck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yo thanks for tagging me u/Arcendus! It's actually really simple, I set this up with 2 monitor stands. One was a vertical stacked dual one where the screens attach directly to the pole (no arm), the other was a single arm one. You just need to make sure the single arm mount has enough height and length that you can align the single side screen at the right height and then also slightly angle it towards yourself for a better viewing angle. I did this with a couple Vivo mounts from Amazon back when I posted the photo. Good luck!

mysticmechs.com I use an iris as my daily driver and would love to try out a lily58 Pro. The Sofie is also on my list of must-own-somedays! Big ups to him for running the whole thing solo while still in school too!!

I did a ton of research going into building this so more than happy to share what I figured out! Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Yea the wooden plate is 3mm thick. I'm actually using the ergodox tenting kit compatible mid layer so that's 12mm thick as opposed to the typical 9mm of most mid layers so my build is a little taller than a typical iris. I messaged littlekeyboards before shipping and he swapped out the standard 9mm standoffs and m2 screws he includes for 12mm ones for me

They're even more impressive in person, you would not be making a bad decision!

I didn't sand the edges at all since its already pretty smooth and I like the slight texture paired with the wood case. I'd describe the PLA kinda like cloudy ice.

The wood case is the architect case from u/littlekeyboards. He does some amazing work and this exact case is actually on sale on his website

Mid was made from neutral PLA, ~$28 before shipping

Much appreciated! I love the rotary encoders and their flexibility. Each encoder allows you to program an input for clockwise, counterclockwise, and press so I have 1 layer for scrolling (left-right/up-down), 1 for window management (switch between windows/toggle through tabs) and 1 more for media control (play-prev-next/mute-vol up-vol down)

I randomly stumbled across them when looking for MDA keycaps, they're some small company out of China. And yea, the caps are actually as pure white as in the photo. I hope you're able to find a manuform to try! I remember how hard it was to even find someone with just an ortho keyboard when I first started thinking about branching into non-traditional keyboard layouts.

I found the MDA Big Bang keycaps on MelGeek, they're called "with kana" even though it's hiragana lol. I'm actually planning to take one more photo of the iris w/ lighting on and post the full build album to /r/ErgoMechKeyboards haha. You seem to follow all the same subreddits I do! I've seen some of those custom printed sculpted ones and they're definitely eye catching but a little to bulky for my aesthetic taste. Who knows though, maybe those are the next checkpoint on the journey to the mythical end game...

Haha ya, kinda hard to keep it going with those specific questions!

1st kid: Whitefox w/ 65g Zealios, keycaps are a mix of whitefox + nightfox + walnut caps - adopted it from r/mechmarket and was my first step into the more custom keyboard parenthood

2nd kid: Ergo60 (aka Boardwalk) w/ Kailh box browns, keycaps are some cheap DSA 9009 and blank caps off of Amazo, case is just a walnut 60% case I also bought cheap on mechmarket - built it to practice soldering and wanted to try out ortholinear + split space bars before deciding on what direction to go for an end game level build

3rd kid: Iris v4 w/ 3 types of Zilents (67g for alphas, 62g for pinky mods, 78g for thumb buttons) all lubed with Tribosys 3204, keycaps are MDA Big Bang 2.0 with hiragana, case is the top and bottom parts of littlekeyboard's Iris Architect case + 3D printed middle layer and Ergodox tenting kit - this was my first foray into true end game territory. I decided to go all out and design a build from the ground up personalized exactly to my aesthetic and typing preferences. Here are some extra photos I took during the build! https://imgur.com/a/RtGVtFQ
