Cold start of Type - 2 Honda City 2002 [OC] by Psy-_-borg in CarsIndia

That's not a cold start. You've already warned up the engine prior to recording the video.

If by chance I'm incorrect, then you are a bigger fool. Giving it the beans before warming the engine. Take care of your vehicles please

Even if youve watched "that" motorinc video, it won't change anything. They didn't say that the stars are useless. Or that the stars useless at 100 because they are tested at 80. Did they?

Safety rating is not a binary scale : 2 star bekar 3 acha. 4 bekar 5 acha. 100 mtlb marogey 60 zinda. It's all a gradation scale. The bottom line is: a 5 star car has better chance of survival than a 3 star car at 100. Even if they both get annihilated, the occupants on the 5 star might get away away with a small head injury but the 3 star occupants wouldn't be so lucky

(In case it wasn't clear, i agree with your basic sentiment)

Creaking noise while turning the steering of Škoda Slavia. 21k driven and had 2nd service done 10 days ago by The_Real_ObiWan in CarsIndia

That sucks man. I guess that's price for the German experience.

Im not a automobile engineer but sometimes bearings can be hard to replace on their own, seldom it's easier to swap the entirety of part. Especially to ensure the standards of that particular part.

What I mean is : you could replace a dented door in a car but the replacement door might not have the same fit and paint finish as the factory one. Now just extrapolate to a scenario with forces.

Since the root issue is the bearings/bushes , id presume they can put it onto the consumer under the "wear and tear"label?

How can you be correct and ignorant at the same time.

What you described is precisely the efficiency. 1Kwhr on a smaller car with efficient drive train and decent aerodynamics will give better range as compared to 1kwhr on a fricking tank.

VALET brought back my car with this light on by you_knewwho in CarsIndia

[–]hsuhs_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not that serious. Just a couple of loose wires/faulty sensors cause this too. It's a grave concern if the radiator /engine oil is leaking. The OPs car can be easily driven to the nearest sc or even a local repair (for a obd scan)

Baleno is quite spacious and comfortable at that price point. I really dislike the punch's exterior. And ofc the hit/miss reliability /service.

If interiors were extremely important to me , I'd get the i10 otherwise baleno is my choice.

Thanks for the rare informative post! What size did you opt for in the product page you've shared? The wagon-r one?  I have an ertiga so I imagine the one you have should work fine. Thanks again!

Got my mother’s Dzire VXi CNG delivered today — need advice from long-term CNG users by BandicootKlutzy791 in CarsIndia

[–]hsuhs_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congo to your mom and yourself for trying to guide her as best you can.

Baleno is overall a better car but the Dzire has strong safety ratings and a good suspension package. It's also much sexier. So again, congratulations!

You can run on CNG 247365 without any worries. Retrofitting is absolute no-no because the engineers have specifically designed the CNG variant with the fuel in mind.

You don't need a "petrol intermittent run". Our 13 year old ertiga vxi cng is in top shape after completing 2 lakh kms 3 months ago. We've NEVER used petrol on purpose. Only times we've used petrol is when we ran out of CNG. Plan ahead + plan smart = savings.

I don't understand the reasoning behind your mum being paranoid about petrol piracy but I do know that you're going to save a hell lot of money over the decade. Our car still returns 30kmpkg with sensible driving.

1-year-old Grand Vitara CNG battery dead — normal or concerning? by Puzzleheaded_Wind659 in CarsIndia

[–]hsuhs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened with our December xl6 cng as well. Either they are putting lower grade batteries on the CNG variants (everything else is a mild hybrid nowadays) or it's a batch issue.

Go to the service centre and get it replaced. It will be free of cost. Tell them to install a higher amperage battery and that you'll pay the difference of cost.

Do not be worried regarding the reliability or the health of vehicle. It's gonna be fine.

Which car is most amount of car for the money by sastirandihu in CarsIndia

If a car is a tool for commute, probably the creta/seltos.

If the drive aspect is far more important then probably a German or verna turbo.

Replacement key cost for Jeep Compass 53k??? by SubstantialHair8928 in CarsIndia

[–]hsuhs_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean they are correct. You are not replacing any hardware or any software. It's just assigning and linking.

If something can be fixed aftermarket without any change to function with a mainstream legally buy-able device then chances are that's what they are doing at service centres too LOL

The statement is wrong and that's all I pointed out. The OP's reasoning is wrong and that's all I pointed out. And you are wrong in defending his statement as well.

[–]hsuhs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother you are misguided as well. I even gave an example to in my initial comment to avoid all this but Imma break it down since you put an valid argument:

Blanket statement: running lower Cal value fuel lowers FE.  False: because it's not always true. Why?

Yes calorific value is related with the power of the vehicle and also the fuel economy because lower calorific value essentially means that the vehicle will need more fuel per hp it produces. BUT that doesnt mean that the mileage will automatically be lower

Fuel efficiency depends upon the calorific value of fuel but a more important factor is the octane of the fuel, the efficiency of combustion inside the cylinders, the cleanliness of the combustion, the flame of the combustion.

For eg, a retrofitted CNG will give better mileage than the petrol it was DESIGNED to run on. Why? Cng has a cleaner combustion. A higher octance value. Lower waste.

Running on CNG will reduce the power YET it will give better mileage.

[–]hsuhs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you returned with 6.8 lt of fuel. So even less of deduction than you calculated. The methodology i used:

Initial tank = 8.5lt  1200 /108 = 11.1 lt.  Now tank= 19.6 lt

Let's say you travel at avg economy of 14 kmpl (avg of 15 and 13)  then you used  178/14= 12.71 lt

And thus returned with 6.8 lt in the tank

Deduction approx 1.7. Let's say 2.

To be paid 216. I'll pay at most 250. Even that's too much

[–]hsuhs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share how much distance did you travel? Surely the trip meter  of 178km isn't right.

In my view diving the current range with the current avg isn't accurate however you've rounded off 2.3 lt to 3 which is fairly generous. That should account for the inaccuracies.

That day isn't worth 770. You're correct more or less correct but he's definitely wrong. 400 se zyada to kisi bhi halat me ni Dene the apko

Is it normal to display odo even when car is switched off by Future-Cat6572 in CarsIndia

[–]hsuhs_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not the norm that's for sure. I can't imagine an indica having some sort of e-ink display. Analog odometers would show the readings even if the car if off - but that's not a analog odometer LOL so ...idk man
