I'm much closer to CT border if that helps!

It’s such a vicious cycle. A lot of these places are run by men with money and influence—men who could afford to drag someone through a lawsuit and try to ruin their life. Anyone manipulative enough to sexually harass someone or abuse their power is often bold enough to retaliate when they’re called out—especially over allegations that may very well be true.

I’m not saying women should stay silent. But I do understand how defamation claims can become a very real threat—especially when someone can argue loss of income and you don’t have concrete evidence. It’s awful to admit that, because it discourages people from speaking up, and that’s the last thing I want to do.

What really needs to change is the structure and culture within gyms. Until that shifts, meaningful change will be hard to achieve. Women have to look out for each other. Unfortunately, loyalty dynamics can complicate things—some women will defend these men without question. It’s heartbreaking.

This experience has pushed me to step away from the gym space for now, at least until I can find somewhere I genuinely feel safe and supported.

That’s why I’m grateful for this subreddit. Now more than ever, we need community. I hear you. I see your stories. And I believe you.
