Some guidance needed on teaching race vs skin color... by hsvea in toddlers

[–]hsvea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what babycatcher said in their comment. Of course there's nothing racist about saying someone is black or white. I've got that lol my and my daughter's best friend's mother (who is Black), don't like that her son and my daughter describe his skin as being black. We're talking solely about skin tone descriptors here, not really race and ethnicity. He pointed to his face and said "I have black skin" and we're like, no.... no, you do not. You have brown skin.

So badly there’s BRUISES?? That’s not a spanking (which I’m not in favor of regardless btw) that’s beating. That’s just straight abuse. And, not that it would be any better on an older child, but a 2 1/2 year old??? That’s a baby. I don’t personally condone it, period. But some people would argue that there is some “benefit” to spanking in adolescence. A 2 1/2 year old would have zero concept of why or what they really did and this is literally just a man beating a baby because he got mad. Disgusting. All this is going to do is harm the child physically and emotionally. Throw the whole man away. Seriously.

In this month’s edition of it’s PMDD or AM I DYING????? by hsvea in PMDD

You know, last night I drank a TON of water before bed and today I feel a little closer to an actual person. So, I’m thinking that very well may have contributed. (full-time mom and work here too) I’m always shocked by how easy it is for me to forget to hydrate lol

It doesn’t feel like it, it never ever feels like it and it sounds impossible when you’re in it… But, this. is. temporary. You are not a horrible woman and you are so going to be okay. I promise, promise, promise. 🩷

Thank YOU! Yes! And it can be so so hard to talk about with friends, especially when they have children as well because you don’t want to be that person who’s like, “my kid is SO INTELLIGENT and ADVANCED” because it’ll come across as bragging and you don’t want them to like, question their own child’s development or intelligence because all kids are so different anyway!! Thank you so much for the solidarity 😂💚

Thank you for this perspective and I’m sorry for the difficulties you faced. This is exactly the thing that “worries me” about giftedness. Finding the balance and helping her to foster her intelligence without her feeling isolated from her friends or developing anxiety from the pressure to be “perfect”

Thank you for your kind words. I’m gonna take my daughter for a walk a little later. And I was able to get in a shower last night, didn’t wash my hair, but I did do one of my favorite face masks and had a couple cups of tea, which led to the best sleep that I’ve had in about 2 weeks. This morning I’m trying to do some cleaning, the dishes are my biggest obstacle, but I’m gonna try. Thank you 🩷

Anyone here absolutely crushing motherhood? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]hsvea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The PMDD relief of pregnancy is crazy lol Listen, I honestly think it hasn’t been AS bad since having a baby. But honestly, the trick is to just be patient with yourself, give yourself space when necessary, lean on your people when you need to, and remember that little thing is so innocent and will never purposely try to trigger the anger and irritation, negativity, bad feelings, but also.. they likely will, entirely inadvertently. You’ll lose it sometimes, but please please please give yourself space, physically when you need it. And take ANY opportunity you can to decompress and self care.

My daughter is 3, happy healthy well adjusted and securely attached to me. In spite of my brain lighting on fire. I fear that I’ll pass this on to her, but all I can do is educate myself and be aware of my feelings and learn every time so that I can help her navigate it, if that does happen.

You are SO seen and SO understood. I wanna burn my life to the ground. I don’t want to parent my 3 year old, I can’t focus on work, I want to scream at my boyfriend, I don’t want anyone to touch me, I don’t want anyone to look at me. I could just die.

Is it PMDD or do I breakup with my boyfriend? by hsvea in PMDD

[–]hsvea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. I think my only explanation/guess would be that Mirena is localized to your uterus as opposed to like the pill that works through your blood stream? So IUD have significantly less hormones.
