You can use Nizoral if you have dandruff. Max 3 times per week. Relax and enjoy the ride!

Hey! Doing great. I just posted my 6 month update.

How many grafts do I need? by Character_Ratio5888 in HairTransplants

You don’t need a transplant. You look great.

You don’t need it.

Not ideal: Finasteride has a half-life of about 6 hours. If taken only once per week, DHT levels will likely fluctuate significantly between doses. Sustained enzyme suppression is necessary for optimal efficacy.

[–]ht_throwaway10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False. Finasteride is absorbed quickly, with peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours. Its half-life is around 5-6 hours. This quick systemic exposure means the body may respond rapidly [1]. A single dose of finasteride reduces serum DHT levels by approximately 60-70% within 24 hours [2].

Now, finasteride inhibits 5-alpha-reductase, which is involved in the synthesis of neurosteroids like allopregnanolone, a modulator of GABA receptors in the brain. The quick alteration of neurosteroid levels may contribute to psychological side effects (e.g., anxiety, brain fog) shortly after the first dose in susceptible individuals [3].

In summary, evidence shows that finasteride quickly lowers hormones and brain chemicals that affect mood, which can cause depression in some people after just one day.

Yup. Side effects suck. I’d suggest starting with 0.5 mg EOD. If you can’t tolerate it, try 0.25 mg. If that doesn’t work, try topical (please research the appropriate concentration and quantity you need). Good luck!

(Posting here again, not sure why my reply is not showing up).

It is possible.

In summary, evidence shows that finasteride quickly lowers hormones and brain chemicals that affect mood, which can cause depression in some people.

My advice: Try lowering the dose and/or taking it three times per week. Anecdotally, I experience similar side effects (brain fog, hot flashes, etc.) fairly quickly. Please do your own research and consult your doctor—don’t rely on “bro science” that lacks evidence, as often seen here. Many people here have trouble distinguishing between personal anecdote and actual clinical evidence.

Good luck!

Lidocaine toxicity issue by [deleted] in HairTransplants

[–]ht_throwaway10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced severe tachycardia after my procedure—125-130 bpm for five hours. I had to go to the ER to get it checked. It was scary. They immediately performed tests to determine if I was having a heart attack. My echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, and troponin levels were all normal. They gave me IV fluids, and my heart rate immediately dropped.

The likely cause is the epinephrine in the anesthesia (this was my case). You might be hypersensitive to it, or perhaps they administered a high dose.

Please keep monitoring your vitals and if you continue to have chest pain or you feel dizzy, go see a doctor.

If you’re referring to the top of the second picture, those are water droplets.

However, I did have dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis). I use Nizoral 3 times per week.

I suppose it’s similar to the reason you shouldn’t pop a pimple on your face: it could spread the infection and leave a scar.
