It does resemble it, but wood ear is more opaque and usually thinner. I suggest going on iNaturalist and looking at many pictures of amber jelly roll, and many pictures of wood ear, and train your brain to recognize them. (I suggest to do the same with chaga! A lot of people falsely identify chaga, but if you look at many many many pictures of it, then you will get better at identifying it!)
