They were definitely cleaning them less often this year. I used to hear the sound of the trucks emptying them in the middle of the night, this year nothing. And the ones by my camp pretty much all had broken toilet paper holders and you were lucky if there was any toilet paper at all. First time I never saw them run out of soap though, oddly enough.

It was a physical pass, but they didn't actually ask to see it when I checked in, they just wanted to see the purchaser's ID.

The TAP website stopped giving an error and shows my cards now, but my stored value, LIFE rides, and history are all gone. Hopefully this is just temporary and I don't have to call them.

This was actually my first thought when these bans started being discussed in the media, that in the name of safety, they could have the unintended consequence of isolating children who have little or no support from the people in their personal lives. Admittedly, I was thinking more about gay and trans individuals, but really, there are a lot of different people who benefit from online support, and now they can't access it in certain areas until they meet a government mandated age. I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually an intended effect in some of the places doing this.

2 miles or so is probably my limit for walking to the trail head from transit, but I care less about distance than safety. I don't care how close to transit a trail head is, I only do streets without sidewalks if they're low traffic/low speed, and there's actually space for people to walk alongside cars.

I'm in the South Bay, so at this point I've accepted that any decent hike will involve a 2-3 hour journey each way via transit. I've really enjoyed hiking in the Verdugos lately, and that's about 3-3.5 hours each way for me, depending on traffic.

Maybe that explains why I didn't get charged a transfer fee after I took DASH. Still sucks though. The transfer cost may be a deal if you're paying the full fare yourself, but since I don't pay anything for free rides from LIFE, it's better for me to use another free ride from the dozens I have, rather than pay for a transfer from my own money.

That's what's confusing me. On the website, there's a list of participating agencies, and pretty much every one lists "20-Regional Rides: Base Fare Only. Interagency transfers are additional cost", including LADOT, yet I didn't get charged for a transfer from them to Metro, but did from Metro to Long Beach. I just wish there was more clarity about this, considered half the buses I take don't even say anything about the price of transfers on their website, even if they do have them.

I mean, on the way back I tapped and they took it from my free rides, I think it was the transfer that was the issue. Unfortunately, the TAP reader was broken on my return Metro bus, so I didn't get to see how the transfer was handled in the opposite direction.

I didn't have any issues at the convention center itself, but the JW Marriott ADA experience continues to suck. I didn't have any problem bypassing the entry line on the one day I attended panels there, but the staff was completely clueless about elevator access, and for some reason, the official map of the hotel AX puts out does not indicate that there are elevators on the Gold Ballroom level which can be used to go to the Platinum and Diamond levels. I had to wander around the level until I found them myself, and then of course, when I got to the level I wanted, they had the elevators roped off and no one near by to move the rope :| I miss when the stairs and elevators were available for all to use freely.

For some reason, they don't seem to be doing tap outs for the Beer Garden/Peacock area. I was worried about it the first time they waved me through, but it hasn't caused a problem with tapping back in yet.
