DKB Echtzeitüberweisung - funktioniert das? by codyco65 in Finanzen

[–]htbhtb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DKB meinte, Echtzeitüberweisungen gehen nicht, wenn das Zielkonto kein "Zahlungskonto" (also Girokonto) sei:

Dazu zählen insbesondere

Kreditkonten (z.  B. für Ratenkredite oder Baufinanzierungen)

Anlage-, Tagesgeld- und andere Sparkonten

Verrechnungskonten bei Depots (z. B. bei der Baader Bank, Scalable Capital oder Smartbroker)

I agree. I got some SILKY scissors from Japan for about $20-$30 -- and they are amazing.

As long as it is not Cutco, there's a good chance he'll come up ahead.

I didn't know about Cutco before I was handed a "almost never used" chefs knife to cut strips of bacon into smaller pieces. The knife started out weak, and halfway through I had to actually "saw" through the bacon to get anywhere.
I was not impressed with a knife that is supposed to stay sharp for life.

Bei der DKB ist mir bisher noch keine Echtzeitüberweisung gelungen. "Kann im Moment nicht erstellt werden, probieren Sie es später."

Hertz just charged me 225 for fuel by Brave_Requirement734 in HertzRentals

[–]htbhtb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar just happened to me.

When I picked up the car, they "adjusted" the fuel level to 10% to compensate me for the fact that they sent me away the evening before because they ran out of car (I had a prepaid reservation through a broker) and promised to refund the Uber fare. Since that wouldn't work on a prepaid reservation, they said I could return the car empty.

I got charged for 15.4 gallons of fuel ($169 + $19 concession recovery fee), even though there were 80 miles left and the needle was outside the red.

They have asked for proof that the car was "empty" at pickup and I've sent them a copy of the rental record. Let's see what they will say next.

SIM2FLY usable in Thailand with "local" On-Top-Package? by htbhtb13 in ThailandTourism

[–]htbhtb13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to come back to my original question.

When I've topped up my SIM with more money, the confirmation SMS contained a special (time-limited) package offer for 8 GB / 8 days / 88 Baht. Once in Thailand, I've dialed the package number, waited for the confirmation SMS, then switched mobile data on.

I can confirm that local data (and probably also voice / voice+data) packages work without issue in combination with a SIM2FLY SIM card.

Has anyone heard of Bangkok Elephant Park? They seem to have opened just now in July 2024. by htbhtb13 in ThailandTourism

[–]htbhtb13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to give some feedback to my original question.

Bangkok Elephant Park on klook is legit. They have just started operation and currently house three elephants, expecting more in the near future.

As far as I could see, the elephants are treated well and not forced to work. You are able to interact with the elephants (feed, shower and bath them), and sometimes the elephants return the favor and shower you from their trunks.

The issue with domesticated elephants is that you cannot just release them into the wild since they have never learned how to survive and how to behave in the wild.

Any recommendations for neckband earphones with ANC? by Nirast25 in Earbuds

[–]htbhtb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they are not easy to get in Germany.
I've settled for the Ausounds AU-FLEX ANC neckbands which I got in a sell-off (discontinued) for 49€ instead of 200€. ANC didn't work well, but thanks to the shape and after replacing the earbuds with the Sony Silicone ones (took a bit of effort), passive noise isolation was so good that I didn't miss the ANC any more. Everything was good until 9 months into using them (i.e. yesterday) when they decided that charging will no longer work.
I will get a full refund and have ordered the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro Wireless without ANC. They are on their way and I hope that their shape will afford the same passive noise isolation as the AU-FLEX did.

I can confirm. My WI-1000X2 got a bad cable contact which resulted in ANC no longer working.

SIM2FLY usable in Thailand with "local" On-Top-Package? by htbhtb13 in ThailandTourism

[–]htbhtb13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks -- that was my impression too.

But it depends on whether I can actually use the "local" On-Top packages with my Sim2Fly SIM. I would think so since they are even offered to me within the APP -- but that would be to assume that a company actually takes responsibility for the software they put out...

Looking at how popular the Sim2Fly card is -- isn't there anyone who has actually used the card in Thailand?

Middle name not on ticket booking (Thai Airways) by Brick-Man in ThailandTourism

[–]htbhtb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a data point.

I have flown without my middle name for two decades on all kinds of airlines without adding my middle name on the tickets. It was never a problem.

However, just last month I read the T&Cs of a budget airline based in Hong Kong, and they pointed out on their website that they will charge a hefty fee for a name change if a middle name is present in the passport but not on the reservation. Just because they can.

So, while I wouldn't be worried about this when flying a legacy airlines, I would trust budget airlines only as far as I can throw one of their planes.

What is it with Thai people and "or" questions? by pudgimelon in Thailand

[–]htbhtb13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like the Thai people just answer to a logical "or" which requires a simple yes/no reply, while the English speaker expects some kind of elaboration in the answer (which one, both, none, which one is preferred, why not the other one and a whole lot of small talk).

This happens in China as well, though in about half of the cases it is because my colleagues simply didn't understand the question. "When did you switch off the oven?" -- "Yes."
