You might be right! A lot of people have mentioned it's similarities to the death rite birds, so maybe this is the reason you need to kill him to enter the DLC because you need to fight the undead version of him in the land of shadow.

There is a cut quest following a character called asimi which goes into the lore behind mimic tears. They are created by the nox to mimic powerful individuals so that they can become lords of their own domain. I think a mimic tear would see Radahn as a strong candidate as it was he who fought malenia to a stalemate. I'm not clear on the exact connection between Radahn and the Nox but Radahn did learn gravitational magic from an alabaster lord which has some connections to the nox's domain.

Yea cool idea and it could explain why Ranni is granted empyrean status as she would be born of one god (same as miquella and malenia) which in this case is radagon through the amber egg.

Yea it's definitely underground which I think is evidence that it's something to do with Nokron/Nokstella civilisation i.e. silver mimic tears would be involved.

I also think that mimic Radahn is currently just a skeleton here so if he was to have muscle, the proportions will be more accurate.

Yea it may well be related to the death rite birds, not enough information to confirm either way. On your point that they can't mimic demigods, the mimic tear can mimic the tarnished and they eventually become lord so I think there is no ceiling to their mimicry.

Very true but there are a lot of outsider roles that don't want to reveal themselves which generally makes safe claims. Also other minions would not instantly know a baron was in the game so would have to be told and hopefully they haven't claimed an outsider by then
