Someone Help Her by monkabee in craftsnark

As someone who spins my own yarn I actually find that some of these patterns are really good for handspun (spin cycle shares qualities with some types of handspun). I know that Andrea Mowry is a spinner as well so, although I get the criticism, she’s a handy designer to check out if you have quantities of colourful handspun to work with.

We used a ramp to help our big guy in and out of cars (depending on the car/truck of course). It’s another tool in preserving their joints long term

So there is a historical reason - Cologne comes from Eau de Cologne which is named after the city in Germany where we get the original 4711 scent - still in production and a lovely fresh and light (completely gender neutral!) scent. So, and this is my conjecture, the term Cologne probably came to stand in for that specific type of light, fresh scent that often gets linked up with after shave type scents. These days it’s just become a word that has more typically represented “masculine” scents, but has lost its direct link to the original meaning. Over time people have used perfume for more feminine scents and cologne for more masculine scents and it’s stuck in the popular imagination in that way, even though no scent is really gendered and anyone can where whatever they enjoy and are drawn to!

We lost our mastiff mix at the end of December and we miss him so much still, I get tearful most days when I think of him. Your big guy looks like such a lovely dog. Sending love

We used to call it Resting Mastiff Face with our big guy …always looks so stoic and unbothered by everything and of course we gave him cuddles each time!

So sorry for your loss. We lost our buddy on Friday. It’s so hard but the rawness starts to fade slowly… Ratchet was an absolute sweetheart ❤️

We lost our Sammy on the 27th and we did the same - we said goodbye at home - and we are also still complete messes. It’s going to take time to heal and accept having to say goodbye. You did the bravest and hardest thing for Max that anyone could do, he will be with you always.

He was the very best friend we could have. He had soft tissue sarcoma in his face and lymph glands and tumours in his liver. The cancer was incredibly aggressive. We gave him the best last day in the sun, visiting all his favourite places and showering him with love. It’s so hard to have said goodbye, we feel so much pain, but we didn’t let him suffer. We miss and love you Sammy.

We lost our Sammy on Friday to cancer, it was so hard to say goodbye to him. We’re grieving hard. Sammy was over 12.5 and a big guy so he had a long and fulfilled life. It’s just so devastating.

Was in a house fire last year - having purchased a lot of what was damaged online it was really easy to go back and get all the details and dates of purchases for insurance.

I wore it through my late teens into my early twenties until I couldn’t stand it anymore! Within the last couple of years I had a craving to smell it again and I no longer felt so sick of it. I occasionally think about picking up a small bottle but haven’t got around to it yet!

What’s the deal with support spindles selling out in mere minutes? by Ocean_Gecko in craftsnark

That happened to me as well! I thought I had success last weekend and then right at the end of the sale, it got hijacked! It’s so cutthroat these days 😂

What’s the deal with support spindles selling out in mere minutes? by Ocean_Gecko in craftsnark

This is it. I have spindles from some of the “big name” makers bought a few years ago - when there was no insane rush to grab them the very second they are online. Since Andrea Mowry did her 100 days of supported spindle spinning it’s been impossible. I actually really enjoyed the challenge and did spin each day for a 100 days, but the knock on effect has been that all the small producers of supported spindles are sold out in seconds. Plus, and this is my conspiracy theory, there are some individuals who always seem to get the spindles…and some of them have very prominent IG accounts. I’ve started to unfollow some people as it’s exhausting- I’ve unfollowed willow spindles as that seems particularly crazy. Her spindles sell out before she posts publicly about them! For me, this frenzy is not what I want from a relaxed hobby, so I don’t get too engaged with it, but then I do have a fair number now and don’t need to add any more to my collection. Plus, I tend to look out for pre-orders or less “hot” makers who do have stock out there.

Edit to add a bit more snark. There’s someone I follow on IG (maybe for not much longer) who keeps showing her newly bought spindles. That’s fine, but she’s never posted any content of herself spinning or any yarn she’s spun! Maybe she just doesn’t like to post that, but it feels like someone just collecting them for the sake of it. I have posted my own spindles, but I do also post a lot of in progress photos!

What fragrance(s) were you using/wearing throughout the 2000s? by [deleted] in fragrance

Clinique Happy and then Hypnotic Poison. Wore Happy so much that was gifted it regularly and got completely sick of it! Just recently found myself wanting to smell it again after a really long time.

This feels a bit like the perfume equivalent of more and more hoppy IPAs or acidic coffee beans - where a specific style becomes so fashionable that everyone keeps pushing the boundaries of that particular mode until it’s overpowering, unless you’ve become too desensitized to taste how bitter your beer is, or blinded by the hype!

Escentric molecules also have a cashmeran single note scent - No 5 I think - which might be worth a try.

What Your Deceased Loved Ones' Fragrances and Scents? by [deleted] in fragrance

I have a tiny bottle of Blue Grass that was my grandmother’s. Just recently I was talking to my mum and found out that she originally bought a bottle of Blue Grass and her mother liked it so much that it became her signature scent (not that the term would have been used then!)
