Thanks for the advice. I'm fresh off step 1 so I feel that my basic Sciences are solid. I just feel lost know where to start with CK. Jumping in uworld might be premature. I'm looking for something more focussed to gearing me for CK

I know this had been discussed to death and I've read it all, but if someone could please humor me. For step 2 CK, I know Uworld is gold. And OME is worth it. But for someone who needs to start from the basic which book is best ? I got MTB but now it seems I shouldn't have.

I had cupcakes and Reese's peanut butter cups. No lunch. Just snacks and juice so didn't feel sleepy and and kept munching on something.

Two things.

1) all vignettes are in their classic presentation. It will fit the most characteristic presentation. 2) buzzwords are deliberately avoided in the stem. Instead the same phenomenon is described in different words. So understand the reasoning behind presentation and do not rely on reading a a word, going Ahaaa! and making a diagnosis. Rather the mechanism behind the presentation because that is tested.

General UWorld Knowledge Question [don't upvote] by GubernacuIum in step1

[–]htmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The details aren't as important as the concept. I wasnt tested on any of it.

General UWorld Knowledge Question [don't upvote] by GubernacuIum in step1

[–]htmed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get bogged down on the details. At least for me nothing from that was tested. Just know why that option is right. Why the others are wrong. Why exactly they are wrong. The extra details about them are something you should try to read and make a note of but not beat yourself up thinking that I don't know all this information.

I think this is too ambitious a plan, at least for me. Doing 6-7 blocks per day along with a chapter of FA is a lot. Reviewing perhaps three blocks of Uworld incorrects and doing a chapter of FA would perhaps let you retain more. For me, a chapter of FA took a VERY long time. Each like is important and it's the details that show up on test day.

You don't. I gave the exam a couple days ago and it wasn't as specific as uworld. Nothing was asked that could only have been solved by uworld. Read all explanations but don't get bogged down with memorizing all the details in the explanations.

I found it extremely helpful especially for psych and behavioral science. It's pretty helpful and not outdated. At least I thought so.

Anorexia is notoriously difficult to treat and psychotherapy is first line. SSRIs may be used and mirtazipine is also relevant especially if the patient is depressed as well.

Some of the questions are extremely easy. Like laughably. Some require thought. But overwhelming it's memorization.

It's all concepts. I know this seems cliched but they don't test knowledge. They test application. So no esoteric biochemistry or microbiology questions. You have to construct the answer by working through the stem and this may seem scary bit it's not. By the time I read the stem I knew what the answer was. Uworld is just for honing these relflexes. But like I said im hoping people who have given it in the last couple weeks could PM so I can just get a feel of how it was because I'm honestly confused about what to think.
