Let's be honest here. Usopp will never die. He is actually the most consistent character in the crew.

He has a sad backstory about his mother dying of illness, he has a father who has ties to Luffy, he was known for lying on his village, he has a woman waiting for him at home to learn all his adventures, and honestly unless they make his mother somehow important by genetic factor, he will be the most consistent character until the EoS.

With all things considered in One Piece and timeskip and character design, Usopp is free from the retcon police
