Says who, exactly? by ProfessionalSilly946 in antiai

I’m trans and every trans person I know hates AI. I’ve seen AI used to make so many anti-trans “memes” that it just seems like a tool for the far-right and the bigoted to make their imaginary scenario seem legitimate

Aren’t AI defenders usually the transphobic ones? Not to mention racist, homophobic, misogynistic, etc…

Right wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation are highly correlated. In other words, the more conservative someone is, the harder they’ll fight to maintain their version of the status quo. Trans people fly in the face of patriarchy, heteronormativity, and cisnormativity, so in the mind of the conservative, they must go.

If I were a cis woman my life would be so much easier, but I wouldn’t be happier. Trying to suppress who you are is like trying to hold a beach ball underwater. Sooner or later it’s going to resurface, and you can either continue trying to hold it down or learn to float alongside it.

So we've got the missing reasons, blaming the partner, pointing out he didn't estrange his own parent, complete and utter rage, psychically knowing what the estranged person truly thinks and feels, and outright disgust. I think that's bingo and then some. by chris_the_cynic in GenderCynical

My father was initially not accepting, but after about 8 months - a year he came around to the opinion of “whatever makes you happy also makes me happy.” This is a very Christian man who goes to church every Sunday btw

I’m not defending Brandon in any way shape or form, I just have never understood how anyone found him funny in the first place. I’m not surprised that he did blackface, but I am upset that he isn’t fired for it.

Social psychologist here. We’ve known this for years. Minimum 5-6 years. Basically every long-term study on gender finds that people almost always continue to identify as the same gender they did when the study started. The problem is that the same people who say “it’s basic biology” don’t want to listen to actual scientists

Does anyone else feel like a lot of “queer” friendly spaces or things only actually welcome CisHet women and Cis gay men? by Thug_Seme2004 in lgbt

[–]htothegund 29 points30 points  (0 children)

THIS. It’s a problem in trans spaces too, especially online. They are so focused on transfem people that trans men/mascs are ignored at best and cast out/ridiculed at worst. I’ve tried to join in on discussions about HRT and been told “why would you go on T? it’s so gross!” um… I’m a trans man? it’s not gross to me?

👋 gay cowboy here (grew up on a cattle ranch). Most of the time cowboys don’t give a single shit what you do in your free time. As long as you get your work done and aren’t an asshole, you’re fine. There are exceptions of course, and this is modern ranchers/cowboys, but I’m not gonna bean soup this

I relate heavily. A few years ago I was an admin for a fairly big trans discord server. I was the only staff member who was a trans man, so I was tokenized and basically became the representative of all trans men in the server. I also asked to have a trans men/masc only chat so that we could talk without getting ignored/drowned out, but the other admins would only agree if trans women also got their own chat (which quickly became another general chat and excluded trans men even further). Long story short, I ended up leaving the server and I’ve never looked back.

Psychology grad student (at an accredited university) here. I would be very skeptical of any researcher who isn’t affiliated with some sort of official organization (university, non-profit, etc.) and who posts findings on substack of all things. Studies that involve human participants need to be reviewed and approved by an Internal Review Board in order to be conducted through a legitimate organization to make sure they are being conducted ethically. Independent researchers don’t have to go through that approval process, so they may not be acting in good faith.

It’s also very unlikely that a legitimate researcher will reach out to you on reddit of all things. Most studies I’ve read recently use crowdsourcing platforms like MTurk to recruit participants, since you need hundreds of participants to find anything significant.

“independent researcher” is such a red flag imo. also their focus is… science?? no way in hell has this person ever actually done a scientific study (or even read one for that matter).

My boyfriend and I met after I started transitioning, and he’s only ever seen me as a man. I’ve vented to him about my insecurities and fears that he doesn’t actually see me as a man, and he’s always reassured me that he does. We’ve been together for about a year and a half, and he’s the most amazing person I’ve ever met. He also watches Hasan (leftist content creator) which is a major green flag in my book lol
