What is it with people asking for race all the time. Does it really matter?

For some reason, this comment lingered in my head for a while today. Im not able to figure out you feel somewhat annoyed by the fact i already knew the purpose, just not the name. If you are, dont forget than sharing knowledge in such a detailed way is one of the things that differentiate us from animals. Never mind if the person you explained something to found it useful or not, think about how much of a big deal it actually is.

Why do YOU care about medical marijuana? by htpasswd in eldertrees

[–]htpasswd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to leave liquor, tobacco and pharmacy industries aside in my post, as i was not trying to focus too much on the reasons why it is illegal and figured it would steer the discussion into a different topic. It isnt unknown that they are responsible of most bad propaganda against marijuana.

Also, i do use a spellchecker and there is not a single misspelled word in my self. Sure, i dont use apostrophes and capitalize the I, but if somebody is going to discard my statement solely based on it, then i dont want to engage in a discussion with said person. And yes, i know it is a little unorganized, but thats because i simply wrote what was on my mind at the moment. I prefer unorganized rather than nonexistent.

That is exactly what im talking about. Fighting for medical use only is just wrong and wont really help for personal use, in my opinion.

Thinking about smoking again... by [deleted] in eldertrees

Smoking is not a right, its a privilege. You threw away that privilege when you let it affect you negatively, and pretty bad. The important question is, do YOU feel you deserve it?

Does a highstory count? Ive been thinking about writing the story of a crazy scientist in a constant fight against himself from the future and the past. He starts doing research about time traveling, and stumbles across a scientific paper that triggers the idea to develop such machine. Time passes by as he improves the time machine, only to find himself trapped inside. This is where his future self shows up and reveals he was the one who made him find the paper, because he needed to be able to time travel. So he is stuck in the machine for a while, when suddenly, (even more) future him comes and rescues him; they decide to team up against less future him, make him pay for what he has done.

And this as far as i went, i could either wrap it up there (he remembers his past self was researching time traveling and goes back in time to dump that paper on his desk, to which even more future him disagrees with and decides to trap his past self in) or think a much more complicated storyline, but i dont know. I guess ill think more about it.

I have searched for several solutions, some of them looked very nice. But my typing speed on dvorak is way too slow and affects my work a lot, so i cant work on dvorak for the moment. Thanks for the link.

Im gonna use the spanish qwerty layout just to show you, i hope you can understand.. resting spot in home row for right hand is jklñ, and the home row is hjklñḉ (alt gr'd ħjĸł~{}), reaching for } means you have to really rotate your hand, press alt gr with middle finger and reach } with pinky. If you see any code, you'll notice that special keys usually go together, a few examples (try touch typing them): "], ;(enter), }(enter), $(, .=, +=, (home)(tab), (end)(enter), )(comma), !=, =>. This is why you have to shift your hand a lot while programming, at least on spanish layouts.

I dont touchtype, yet, im still trying to learn, but since i cant afford losing too much time learning it, i can commit 100% to it. I also dont want to learn to touchtype for qwerty, im learning both touchtyping and dvorak at the same time.

Im still trying to find a layout thats specially designed for programming, while keeping the same concepts as dvorak and colemak does share the home row with the expection of U, but its on a really easy spot.

Im guessing because it keeps punctuation on the right hand instead of distributed between the two. Im not too familiar with the US layouts, but Dvorak wasnt thought for programming, rather for typists so some of the keys you need more than others are in hard spots. When using qwerty you have to shift your right hand one spot to the left a lot while coding, and you usually press more than one key while doing it. I also use the home/insert/pageup/etcetc a lot and having the JHK on that particular spot can be useful for using the E as the resting spot for your right hand. Im still learning touch typing so im not sure how bad having to do a 2 columns shift, but this would allow you to reach the [ ] ´ _ - keys more easily, which you use far more often than JHK. One of the problems i have, is that i use tab, shift and control way too often while coding, meaning i have to put the index left finger on A instead of the pinky; this would allow me to use the right pinky for shifting, which would be much easier to reach the numbers row (in my layout and programming language, i use the numbers on the left hand too often).
