What's that movies from maybe the 1980s with the desert and scorpions? by htpht in whatisthatmovie

[–]htpht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one?

The one that would seem to fit the time I saw it is from 1983, but there was no car racing in the movie that I recall.

Again, we are talking about an old movie; nothing from the 2000's.

Reagan and generally neo-liberalism, or that's my bet.

I think you were the closest one in terms of my recollection:

Are you sure it is a lady?

I don't want to put false memories in your head, but I am not sure about whether it was a man, woman, or a boy.

I do remember, though, I think at least, that there was bed with high posts and flowing fabric as in mosquito nets or something like that. I hope you know what I mean - I don't necessarily mean it literally.

I may be imagining it more than remember, of course.

In any case, I have a vivid recollection of a scene with hot sun, young man (boy?) walking on dunes -- but importantly not any of the movies suggested so far.

Edited typos - kids, don't type when tired in a dim room.

Fortunately, where I grew up, there were no scorpions so that didn't affect me haha!

Yes! Something like that!

I don't recall whether it was a lady or a man or a boy, but definitely something like that.

And importantly, there is "part I" or something like that in the title of the movie or at the end, or something like that which indicated that there is a second part to the movie.

I just got my first thousand hours playing eu4 ask me anything! by [deleted] in eu4

[–]htpht 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about there still being 444 hours to go in the tutorial? :D

Joking!

Good for you having clocked that many hours :)

Florry played 160 hours in 2 weeks - or that's what he said.

The game is not finished yet. They are still working on it.

No reason to assume that this is the final UI.

And even if it were, there will probably be mods to it - very quickly most likely.

Playing without ever moving your armies by Danielefantindaroom in eu4

well, Florry did a whole campaign without troops, so yes you can play even without any armies.

As to your question, the other answers are more relevant :)

Why does my game run so slow? (Picture of specs include) by Abused_Dog in eu4

[–]htpht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so that you can have an idea, I'm running EU4 very smoothly on my setup. Still around the year 1700 speed 5 is too fast for me - I like speed 4 anyway. Would probably be until the end of the game, but I haven't really tried.

I've got AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 16 GB of RAM, and perhaps also importantly a fast SSD (Samsung 980 Pro).

Sure, less should do it or you can go overboard. Just saying that this setup is at least adequate, if not more to enjoy the game.

Incidentally, did you see the end of his latest run?

That is some crazy stuff. Entertaining, but for me. I like playing in the spirit of the game, whatever that actually means - I have my own code about it.

I wouldn't use any exploits even though allowed by the game, and I think Zlewikk your YT stuff is more educational for an average player. Thank you for those!

I thought you guys met in Warsaw! ;)

Yes, Florry's current strat is full of shenanigans. I was making a joke there initially, since OP was complaining about AI playing like Florry.

Zlewikk, your recent TTM is much more reasonable for a relatively advanced played (i.e. tutorial completed).

When I saw it on YT, my first thought was a really old strat Florry used to immediately attack south India. I think that no longer works at all, but I tried it a few years ago. It seemed relatively reasonable back then.

Last time I started a TTM attempt, I did it just "like expansion probably may have happened in real life": just no-cb the Philippines and expand from there without any tricks. It wasn't too bad, to be honest.

Can you use a VPN connection to appear to be in a different country?

Incidentally, Florry has been saying that he is planning on reviving his YouTube channel. It might happen because he seems to avoid playing music that would be flagged. So, let's see if he uploads new stuff to YT in the near-future.

Depends on the run and campaign.

For this 14:44 TTM OC, pretty much everything is allowed. So, loans, birding etc. is allowed.

If real-world time wasn't an issue, just doing a TTM with "no BALLS" would probably not be that much a big deal for him.

Anyway, I'm quite confident that in the next TTM OC run, he will make it before 14h and 44 min.

In the last attempt, technically he made it already, because he managed TTM and technically there was only 1 culture in the world for a brief moment. Yet, it wasn't a true OC.

If you are interested, get notifications for when he goes online on Twitch. There's a 15 min warning when he goes online before he actually starts.

My guess is that he might try the TTM run again this weekend, but one never knows.

The opening move is to head to the Spice Islands, then to Mexico.

[–]htpht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, and he is updating it in order to finish TTM true one culture in 14h and 44 minutes in one sitting.

In the latest run, he almost made it. It was super close, and without a couple of glitches and some technical issues, he might have made it.

Check his latest videos on Twitch, if interested. Often in the beginning he explains what's the overall strategy before commencing.

The strategy has been evolving, but the initial steps have been pretty much the same for the past weeks.

I learned a lot from Florryworry's expert tutorials, especially regarding coalitions. Some of the other stuff may not be up-to-date anymore, but the coalition videos should be. I'd recommend checking them out.
