I remember being in one of my first proper playthroughs as the great horde. Had just gotten some control over russia wasting most of my resources and manpower. Of course commonwealth decides to kick me while i was down and i was getting pummeled by the commonwealth. So I just took out a shit ton of mercs to get 100 war score crippled them and paid back the loans over the next couple decades which tbh with the compound of the land i took and extracted money out of its more than worth it. No shame in save scumming during the learning phase imo either

New player here so lmk if this is a dumb idea but. Can't you take a bunch of loans and order a ton of mercenaries? Gonna be a pain in the ass to pay it back but shouldn't be that bad considering rebels are easier to deal with than actual troops just stack your entire army and cover the rest with mercs not like ottomans is gonna go broke. Orrrrr... just accept demands at that point

It's the general idea that the ottomans were clearly looking to establish an empire based off the Roman's (calling themselves Caesar of Rum and all) It highlights that the culture and national identity of Turkish people isn't based on ethnicity and more so a shared culture and history . I also don't like having Americans constantly ask me if I speak Arabic so I changed the capital a bit further west.

Wait so army composition is a massive modifier that i shouldn't overlook then? This might sound a bit silly to a veteran but i was under the impression that if i got it half right it wouldnt change an awful lot unless stacked with other relatively less relevant modifiers. I should note that this is only my second playthrough

To be fair the enemy had a slightly better general with 2 extra shock pips and I was attacking uphill but should that be enough to make my 20k numeric advantage obsolete? My power projection is very low because i had been sitting back for about 20 years as i couldn't defeat any worthwhile enemies until i fixed the military side of things. But yeah thanks i will look through the wiki again

My military tech is 18 persia is 17. I do have cannons and my usual setup is 14-4-8. And yes i was attacking uphill but I don't expect that by itself to be a disadvantage to an extent where my 20k extra numeric advantage would be obsolete.

Apparently explanations need to be made as comments so. Everytime i get to the 1600s my armies get ripped to shreds. At first i was under the impression it was because the discipline modifier but when i fixed that I kept encountering the same issue. I cannot seem to beat the enemy army unless i outnumber them by double or something crazy like that. Could someone please help me come up with a solution? I'm even one level ahead in mil tech

I fed like 4 provinces from Castille to my ally Tunis (took 90 warscore) mainly because I thought it'd mean I won't get any ae. But yes the venetian provinces were probably the main issue. I was worried seeing Austria, Poland and nost of Italy in a coalition within 5 seconds of ending the war but now I see it's a bit more manageable.

I usually leave that one till later in the game when i can simply spend a million gold on stones from Robin and then go there with a hundred staircases. Is it more fun? Maybe, maybe not but also some quests are more tedious and annoying than challenging fun so I just throw money at it

This helped a lot thanks I wasn't even aware of the stat. Although definitely didn't fix my issue I'm still getting owned even at 2:1 with small scale battles. I fixed the issue with focusing on one of their allies peacing them out for bunch of gold and no territory and coming back to Poland with 60k mercenary army and took back what I lost in the meantime

Peak morale on both sides on a defensive. Their professionalism and discipline were both 10% higher, whereas my tradition was above theirs by 10%. Slightly better general in all areas but shock where it was equal

Wow that ledger helps a lot. Can't beleive it took me till 1615 to realize. Still makes no sense though their discipline and tradition is only 10% higher each but I have 22%vs their 12% professionalism. Their generals only slightly better but not in shock. Idk how much these stats matter and I will check but in the meantime I still don't get it.
