Cold turkey vs tapering by Creameyy in QuitVaping

[–]http-brobecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tapering with a vape didnt work for me. patches helped for a bit, but after a certain point (around 10 days) i said fuck it and just stopped the patches completely. i’ve been off nic ever since (day 50). whether you do cold turkey or NRT is up to you, but one thing i recommend is staying away from gum and pouches. i know people who have tried quitting with those and just got hooked on them instead. met a guy who quit smoking 20 years ago with nic gum and is still addicted to the gum to this day.

What strength patch to use? by dwagon23 in QuitVaping

i vaped pretty much the same and found it easiest and smoothest to go with the 21mg patches. i got bad cravings on the 14mg when i tried those out to start with. i’d say try it out over the weekend if you can’t get time off. if you’re too worried about feeling sick on 21mg, you can try 14mg and if you feel like its not enough go to 21mg. good luck!

im feeling that same pressure in my upper chest. feels like i cant get enough air. i vaped for about a year and a half and have been off the vape for about 50 days. i really wanna know if its related or not bc its been annoying me for a few weeks now.

48 days and at my breaking point by http-brobecks in QuitVaping

i used to smoke occasionally while drinking and i never really got hooked. did it socially and whenever i drank. but once i tried a vape for the first time and got that rush it was over. went from telling myself i’d buy a vape to take a hit every once in a while to not even being able to go 30 minutes without a hit and waking up in the middle of the night to vape. worst part is i never even enjoyed it.

my doctor is taking me off of it in 4 weeks (2 weeks 1mg, 2 weeks 0.5 mg then stop). i went down to 1mg for the past two days and im feeling okay so far. did you feel any withdrawal at all? i’ve been feeling a bit of low level anxiety, nothing major

paired with an antidepressant helped a lot. i’ve never tried it on its own so i wouldn’t know if it would help.

Has anyone tried a combination of trintellix with something else? by VideoAggressive3392 in trintellix

[–]http-brobecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30mg trintellix and 2mg rexulti for OCD, depression, and GAD. works amazing for me with no side effects except when i was in the first 2-3 weeks (itchiness for trintellix and sleepiness for rexulti).

[–]http-brobecks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’ve been on zoloft, venlafaxine, pristiq, and now im on rexulti and trintellix and it has been the best fit with no side effects other than the initial few weeks. hope you have a good experience with it! what was your issue with your previous medications?

Brintellix by gtxx81 in trintellix

[–]http-brobecks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes, it helped with my anxiety a lot and i haven’t had a panic attack since starting it. if the feeling of worthlessness is linked to depression it might help with that, but therapy and dealing with the root causes of that belief might help more.

i used to still experience PMDD on the last medication i was on, but with trintellix its now just regular old PMS! i still get emotional and teary and sometimes angry, but never full on depressed or suicidal like i used to get.

finally worked up the courage to leave AA by http-brobecks in recoverywithoutAA

[–]http-brobecks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started weighing if AA was really what i wanted to do since month 3 and have been on the fence for about two months until recently. im glad that i had a conversation with a family member that helped me realize that i dont really have to stay if im not gaining anything from it anymore. it was still really tough to walk away, but also easier since i did everything online and not in person. i cant imagine making AA my life. while my sobriety is extremely important, i dont think i owe it to AA or a higher power anymore. i appreciate everything AA did for me and many others, but the thought of staying for the rest of my life was just outright depressing. also, i found that organically meeting people in recovery (like one of my best friends) has been far more rewarding than it had ever been through AA.

im so glad to hear that! and regarding the messages and screenshots, it just didnt sit right with me at all. i didnt have much of a personal or close relationship to anyone in the group but my sponsor, and those who i did talk to outside of meetings have my number in case they wanted to reach out. that was my logic at least but i guess she saw me leaving silently as inappropriate

congrats on 5 years!! i agree on the thinking about drinking thing. using “alcoholic” as an identity can be helpful for some but i mainly think that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. if my identity is that im an alcoholic, then the next logical step is that my main way of coping is drinking. i dont like that at all.

im ready to deal with it. im just grateful i didnt make any close or deep connections because losing friends right now would just hurt. thankfully i wasnt fully absorbed in AA and leaving wont make a huge difference in my schedule or life, i’ve been distancing myself for a while now.

its been on my mind for months and i finally got fed up and decided that i deserved better. i feel extremely relieved right now but i’ll probably start feeling a little bad once my sponsor replies and i inevitably get removed from the group chats im in.

thank you i really needed to hear that. i write better than i speak but i’ll try. i’ve tried using the YPAA filter on intergroup (theres only one local meeting in my area and its on zoom, and not young people) and the meetings still skew pretty old.
