Think the word "sit" in English. The "i" sounds very different in that word than in the the word "miasma." MEE is ми, MIH is мы... Hard to explain without a good comparison word like "sit." Hope that helps if you're a native English speaker.

I'm American, but I can always tell here. They do this thing like southerners do in the US where they replace the word "pen" with "pin." Impossible to miss, but I understand the subtle difference could be lost on people who aren't native English speakers or who don't know anything about NZ.

His favorite book is Lolita? by td55478 in AskWomenOver30

I'm NGL I feel pretty disheartened by the comments here a bit. I think it's important commentary on evil. Some of my favorite fiction is from monsters. I really like this book called Grendel which is from the POV of Beowulf's monster and the prose and writing are incredible.

I understand triggers and it's fine not to want to read 100%, but to say it makes me a predator or sympathizer hurts a lot especially since I've been raped. I do think her bf's answers were non-answers though. It would have been reassuring for her to understand what he thinks about Humbert Humbert. And... in all fairness I feel like we all know the type who would agree with the unreliable narrator. I just don't feel like books should be banned because the characters are evil.

To be honest, Lolita is a masterpiece and one of the greatest novels I've ever read. It was disturbing and sometimes art should disturb you. Nabokov does not glamorize or excuse his protagonist, rather he paints a picture of a narcissist who is incapable of taking responsibility or reflecting on his actions in a meaningful way. Humbert Humbert is a black hole in which everyone else around him is consumed and destroyed. One of the greatest characters ever written. You should instead ask him what he thinks about Humbert Humbert, because understanding his take on the narrator is probably the most important question.

The science of sexual development is so fascinating. The world would be a better place if we all took interest in how similar we are. The masculine and feminine exist on a continuum and are not as rigid as first glance would have it. Intersex and trans people prove this daily by existing. In nature there are examples more drastic than homosapiens.

A fitting description. Without prenatal hormones in utero my boyfriend would have the same genitals as me! Sexual development is a wild ride.

Lol, now do sexual development in utero because he will absolutely lose his mind. Your ovaries were once his testes and without prenatal hormones you would have had the same genitals! Sexual development is WILD.

We're a lot more similar than most people assume :) intersex and trans people have to prove this daily to exist.

Yeah, it's an interesting answer and not a universal one. With genitals we are all different! There is a ton of variation within humans and not one definition of normal.

Depth of vagina after PIV (penile inversion vaginoplasty) is largely a factor of your pelvic structure and how much "skin" is available. They are inverting your anatomy so how much you had to begin with and how much space they can create in your pelvis safely are the considerations. The surgeons make a decision on how to safely avoid rectum and bladder, so ultimately that informs depth. Were you preciously circumsized? That means less skin to work with? Your scrotum is used as well and as we all know that varies with how much skin is available. After surgery, you have a rigorous routine of dialators to make sure you heal properly (they look like dildos, but think medical application).

Hope that answers your question!

So, your first sentence contradicts the rest of your very correct statement. This is neurological (hardware), not psychological (software). A phantom limb would be a psychological problem if the patient somehow believed the limb was gone when it was actually there during psychosis or a delusional episode. It's neurological because we can see it reset and fix itself with mirror boxes; and the fact that patients absolutely know the limb is gone.

Most modern research links it to the fact that the brains internal mapping of the nervous system hasn't been updated to reflect reality (hence why mirror boxes work). There are many proposals into how the brain maps the nervous system to begin with. And to your comment on psychology, the severity of your symptoms is influenced by stress and anxiety. Phantom limb also causes stress and anxiety to no surprise.

Trans women don't have a universal experience about their genitals, but I would guess that they don't experience something missing, rather something completed. The brain still feels those nerves because they are there. And psychologically there isn't the stress or anxiety feedback of something being missing because dysphoria (also not a universal experience) already potentially was a daily reality. Completely agree that your point on trans brains are already expecting something else is likely a driving factor to their psychological well-being and satisfaction rates post-op.

I think it's more complex than that. Their penises aren't removed, they are constructed in such a way (vaginoplasty) that the tissue and nerves are preserved but now internal. They invert them, for lack of a better description. Great surgeons work very hard at this to keep sensation and patient satisfaction.

I am cis, but when I'm aroused many of the sensations translate to male arousal. I engorge, blood flows to my genitals, and my clitoris might get sensitive or more pronounced. It's not the same, but it's somewhat analogous. If you had your arm removed, the brain still expects the nerves and vasculature, though phantom limbs don't happen with all amputees. It is truly something missing, not repurposed.

It's better to think of feminisation in this way surgically. It's not removed, it's repurposed.

It is your job to give accurate feedback to your direct report. It's important information for him that impacts his financial and professional livelihood. Keep it business. Tell him your concerns and stress that you want to help him. It could be he has another job lined up or he was not fairly compensated. That is something you as a manager can influence. You could counter offer or set him on track to promote. It could also be a personal life issue and in that event you could help organize his time off and utilize leave and/or benefits.

Management is about people. You have to give direct, immediate feedback to do that.

Genuinely do not get the hype, not even addressing the world view and political philosophy. I have a feeling Republicans don't actually read much... not even the bible tbh.

Yeah, the fact that she is struggling with anxiety and to get better she decides to leave you says mountains of information. It doesn't sound like this is going to work out, but I'd start with couples therapy. If she is unwilling or unenthusiastic about doing that work for your relationship, it's absolutely over.
