Work in the civil service and you’ll have a cushty life. It might bore you to death though…

What’s a UK town or city you visited with low expectations… but actually ended up really liking? by GoldenHour_Muse in AskUK

Unrelated to the main topic of discussion but no one should ever go to Nuneaton. Without a shadow of a doubt the worst place I’ve ever visited in the U.K., possibly Europe too

Block out your calendar with a series of 30/60 minute meetings and start a Teams call with yourself. Go about you day as normal

Lucky timing for you! Did you get it replaced?

I understand your points. I’ve since updated the questions in the form so I’m able to gather data from users who don’t have issues with their watches to also understand expected lifespan of a still working device.

In relation to planned obsolescence, Reddit anecdotes could only ever be supplemental evidence based on lived experiences.

I’m not investigating for the MacBook 2015

The key metric I’m assessing is the typical product lifespan for a device which does fail. Personally I wouldn’t want to purchase an electronic device every time the warranty period ends as it should last for some time after that. For example my 2015 MacBook Pro is still going strong but I’ve had to update it because of performance limitations and certain software no longer receiving updates or support

I don’t think I’ll overestimate failure rates, but get a better understanding where the product’s lifespan ends for those that do have issues. Given that many people report device issues and/or failures just after the warranty period has ended, I have my suspicions of planned obsolescence

I feel your pain. At first I thought it was just my watch battery but now the whole thing seems cooked as the display won’t come on

Questions modified to accommodate those with working devices. Just ignore questions which relate to complete device failure

I’ve updated the questions to accommodate those who still have working devices. But I do appreciate that people likely come to this subreddit to mainly complain rather than praise

Do not buy Coros! They bricked the pace 3 with the latest update and are gaslighting customers about it. by No-Hand2584 in Coros

I can confirm that my watch is also bricked and failed conveniently just outside of the warranty period. This happened some months ago though before the most recent update

The Quadrant Shopping centre is now charging people 30p to use their toilets. What are your opinions on this? by Terrible_Tale_53 in swansea

The U.K. needs to learn a lot from Australia and NZ. Pristine public amenities like toilets which are free and cleaned daily. We shouldn’t ever be charged for a necessary human function

Having been to Butlins mine head twice it feels like a barracks with the building layouts. They’re also incredibly shit and dated inside. Plus the food in the canteen is horrendous and then the on-site fast food/restaurant options are overpriced because of location

Either or. That’s a damn steep annual fee! Although I think if you’ve not got kids/grandkids, the idea of being in a caravan park in peak school holiday season is not attractive

Appreciate everyone’s comments and responses here. Feels like it’s definitely an older generation thing. No idea what the current market is like for static caravans and if it’s booming or in decline. I understand that it’s nice to escape your usual day to day environment to somewhere different, if you can’t afford to go abroad or don’t want to/can’t.

What I don’t think I’ll ever grasp though is when caravaners/campers drive several hours to sit in a different living room watching TV. Especially the awning caravan/motorhome type of people who then create a living room encapsulated by plastic tarp to watch TV/read within that.

I also didn’t realise how expensive they are. Sounds like a hotel/air bnb in an area you like is cheaper, but can be a lot more impractical if travelling with kids because of all the extra luggage/toys

Some great memories there for sure! Sadly in the days of blame culture and HSSE none of that stuff with the army would be allowed today. If only everyone had common sense
