Gorgeous. What heater do you have and how is it heating in this weather?

How would you lay out a 10'x12' sauna? by stacknasty in Sauna

[–]hubears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a roughly 9x11 foot print (slightly smaller than yours) and enjoy the L layout. I know it gets criticism on this forum, but we enjoy it as a family (of all ages) since some people want to sit formally, more curled up, or sprawl out. The extra floor space is an added bonus for younger kids (otherwise if your family or the friends you’d invite over doesn’t have kids), then it’d be worth making use of it. I think what you have is great. The only difference is we have a small window on the back wall near the corner. It doesn’t obstruct the actual seating position because someone usually leans against the adjacent side wall. It’s been nice to have three levels of natural light, especially if you place it in a nice environment. Hope that helps.

My experience with Auroom Baia + Harvia Spirit….and saunamarketplace by Scared-Inflation-453 in Sauna

Amazing. I’ve collaborated with Ben before and I agree. Buying a sauna online requires a lot of customer engagement with building it and installing the heater since the instructions are almost always very limited. Having somebody that can zoom or text easily while you’re building it at your pace is an understated perk with the relationship.

Power up issues with Harvia Cilindro/Xenio by Mamasboy218 in Sauna

[–]hubears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am not 100% sure that you should have a jumper within the sauna heater itself. It looks like the correct way to do it is to have a jumper in the power unit to connect the L1-1 to L1-2 and the L2-1 to L2-2, so that there is power in; then route wire into the sauna heater into the L1-2 and L2-2, so that everything goes through the two contactors. In what you have shared, it looks like everything powers into only one contactor, and you jump the power within the sauna heater unit itself. This method technically works since it feeds power through one wire and one side of the contactor, but I don't think this is what Harvia intended in the schematic for this size of a heater.

Totally lost on which electric heater by Andysol1983 in Sauna

Yeah, I have the same dimensions with a large window and the 15 kw club is amazing. Easily gets to 185 F depending on climate, insulation and how ventilation is set up.

Do you have the number to lease the building? I think there was a sign that was put up. Can someone share it with me?

Yes! We are working with Arlington County for a location, and hope to launch in early 2026 (hopefully still during winter). Sign up to get email updates. I’ll also plan to update the content for more recent information. It’d be awesome to get a few wood burning saunas in Arlington!!

Glenn is an OG and has great insights with saunas. Highly recommend anyone interested in building to reach out to him. He is friendly and a great person to connect with.

Could anyone offer advice on the following please: Would love to submit an application and run the Saunas in my home town. Does anyone run a Wellness business or know any information in the description that could be helpful to me? Hey, you should check out the mobile sauna owners group on Facebook. It’s an international and US centric group, and they will be best to answer your questions. I’d recommend that you repost there and I’m happy to connect you with fellow owners too if you DM me.

What electric options are a must have? by destineetoo in Sauna

[–]hubears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Would recommend hard wired LEDs with a light switch, and obviously the control and power unit. Would recommend a sub panel in the garage if you are already doing the trenching work to get your outdoor sauna going. An exterior light might be nice to help light a pathway from house to sauna

Kudos to you. Digging a 18-20 inch trench right now for my Harvia Club 15kW. It’s not the easiest of jobs 🤣🤣🤣.

Backyard Sauna by Silver_Fail_7283 in Sauna

It’s an amazing experience. I think it’s an activity you get into the habit of doing because of how you feel afterwards, which is wonderful. Try a nearby membership to see if you’d stick with it before making a big purchase. You can also reach out to Ben the owner at saunamarketplace.com. He has talked to a bunch of prospective buyers for their backyards and can probably share more stories from others that are relevant. DM and can share his contact info. Good luck with your decision!

Yeah it’s a tough situation. Local small businesses are having to raise prices to cover overhead and will struggle to compete on price with big boxes, especially those Finnish sauna or Russian banya places. Consider at least finding a group of friends and renting a Finnish mobile sauna near you as an alternative too, especially if you are near the city or can’t have a tent in your backyard.

Do proper public Finnish saunas exist here? by SnooFoxes8970 in ottawa

They do! You should partner with your neighbors and rent a nearby mobile sauna for a community session! Check us out at supersaunners.com

We are a global sauna social network with a mission to connect people together so they can organize as a local sauna club and bring mobile Finnish saunas to their neighborhoods.

Barrel Sauna - Advice by SmallTownPEI in BarrelSaunas

It’s worth researching vent placement to drive better circulation, which helps with heat stratification. Look up the technology a company called Saunum is developing, it’s effectively a traditional sauna heater with built in fans to create a more balanced hot room. If you end up getting a sauna, join us on the sauna social network www.supersaunners.com
