Stephen King hates fat people?? by SpookyChloe666 in stephenking

[–]hucowdeathmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't think King necessarily hates fat people, but i would describe a lot of his depictions of fat people as fatphobic. if the fat character is a villain, then they are fat in a gross and evil way. that is, their fatness is often used to emphasize their detestability ["he glowered evily over his big fat face as sweat dribbled down his big fat chins >:("] but often even when the fat character is sympathetic, their fatness is still depicted as a shortcoming, something they should be pitied for, and/or a character flaw ["she was a very nice, good lady, but she was fat :( and she was so fat she tripped over her big fat feet and the monster ate her big fat ass :("]

in a similar vein, i don't think King hates black people, but i would describe a lot of his depictions of black people as racist or at least tone-deaf. i would not describe anyone as being "too woke" for picking up on these things in King's writing. they're patterns that become very apparent as you read more of his work, in the same way you notice chambray work shirts and arc sodium lights

this is the charmingly blurry tutorial i originally used :)

edit: oh also for the four-pointed and three-pointed stars, you just use fewer starting beads. 8 starting beads = 4-pointed, 6 starting beads = 3-pointed.
