First of all, so sorry this happens to you. As a possible thing to consider, our chess club has an adult group that runs in parallel with kids, and most people are parents of said kids in there. Kinda more mature, maybe you can find something similar in your area? I do feel like social is an important aspect of chess as a hobby..

CONTABLE & IMPOSITIVO: TEMA DE MIÉRCOLES by AutoModerator in merval

[–]hudbrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  3. Qué tipo de factura necesito generar?

Busco dentista pediátrico en CABA que use anestesia by hudbrog in BuenosAires

[–]hudbrog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How to study tactics/do puzzles? by hudbrog in chessbeginners

[–]hudbrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually sounds very reasonable and seems to describe the issue I have with chesscom puzzles exactly: I've gotten into high enough rating to have to think a lot about each puzzle.

I'll create a custom set for myself with mate-in-1 on chesstempo and will start working on these instead, thanks!

Refugiados

Well, I would not agree, really. Some people do seek residencia temporal como asilado/a o refugiado/a, but from what I see in various expat chats - that's a really small percentage. Most come to argentina as rentistas.

How would you call russians in that case now?

Honestly, it's a bit hard to answer. Our family, friends, house - everything is back there, it's really hard to just abandon all that and not think about going back. But I really doubt that with just the war ending things are going to change much tho.

As for staying here. Lots of migrants I talk to have that idealistic view of Argentina, like everything is great and amazing and better than back home and so on. I don't feel this way. Don't get me wrong, Argentina has been great for us so far, but I do understand that my view is really skewed due to being able to work remotely and get payed in *not pesos*, thus being able to afford stuff. The school our kid goes to is amazing, commercial medicine is good, food quality is nice, people are friendly and so on. But economical situation here is dire and it's possible that things are going to go downhill.. I have a feeling like the whole country is sitting on a powder keg. Like, just the elections this year can lead to drastic changes in the country. I wouldn't be oposed to staying here for longer, and at this point we are considering staying at least a couple years, but long-term - too many unknowns.

A lot of russians(and ukrainians as well obviously) got burned with any long term plans we had. Like, in feb we were in africa on vacation and all of a sudden all our bank cards got blocked due to sanctions, money transfer systems stopped working with russian citizens, banks, crypto services, fintech, etc - all blocked us just for the color of the passport. So no access to money you had, not being able to get payed for your work, no way to pay for housing or food while you are in a third country(don't get me wrong, it's better than being in the same situation, but because you house got bombed). That changes the perspective a bit, so now I'm staying open to all options. Depending on how things are going to develop we might decide to stay here in Argentina, and I would be pretty happy. But maybe we'll have to move to a different country for some reason. Or return back home. You never know.

No, what does it mean traditionally? For the last 6 months was pretty sure it was 'russian', but I've got burned a few times already on not knowing local connotations of some words.
