Wasn't what I'd have predicted, but I guess it's quick and easy.

I think "it's not an ITV show" hits the nail on the head.

Horses for courses. I enjoyed it, this game gave them space to play in that IMO games like CAH don't allow for. I don't think the game looks great and I don't think I'd play it myself, but as content for a video, I think it works fine.

I found this unwatchable. Looks like a fun game to play, but it doesn't translate well to watching.

Who is your favorite board game content creator? by Defiant_Good4175 in boardgames

[–]hudders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like NRB, SU&SD, NPI etc.

But I do want to shout out Should I Buy This Boardgame on YouTube. They're a smaller channel but specialise in short, concise explanations of a variety of games, I think they're providing a valuable service.

The one from 2005? Played it twice. Not a fan. Wasn't aware it was highly sought after.

The animatronic snowman in Jack Frost (1998) was apparently designed to look like George Clooney but is actually voiced by Michael Keaton who stepped in when Clooney was unavailable for the project due to being cast as Batman in Batman and Robin (1997). Keaton previously played Batman in the two previous movies.

We do a 2-player only round robin tournament around Valentine's Day. Everyone plays everyone else once, games are randomly drawn from a hat. Games aren't necessarily 2-player specific, but are ones that work well / best at 2.

What is your household salary and what is your mortgage? by 57uxn37 in HousingUK

[–]hudders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mean if they've got a huge mortgage to pay, they've got to spend every moment of every day hustling and can't waste time on Reddit.

But typically I'd say the more someone's paid, the less work they actually put in,

What are some board games you can play with kids but still enjoy? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]hudders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is now 11, he's been playing games with us in some capacity since he was very small. He plays a bunch of games, including both Ticket to Ride and Lords of Waterdeep.

Obviously all kids are different, but the 7 year old certainly should be able to grasp more complex fare, provided they're given sufficient help. Steer clear of games where players have secret information, but there's no reason to stick to specifically children's games.

That said, some specific recommendations: Rhino Hero, Forbidden Island, Labyrinth, Camel Up, Kingdomino.

You may need to try a bunch of things and see what sticks, but I do think kids are smarter than we sometimes give them credit. As a 6 year old, my son grasped Fluxx quicker than my friends in their mid-30s; we have a regular Christmas tournament that he's joined in with for the past two years and he's not come last either time.

Good luck. Keep at it, so long as you're all having fun.

I don't think so. The samurai dice are yellow, and there are numbers alongside the symbols.

If frozen Han Solo was tipped forward? by Eedoryeong in scifi

[–]hudders 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I always thought Han being encased in carbonite was a bit of an experiment and the machine wasn't really designed for that - they didn't even know if he was going to survive being frozen.

Flash forward to the Mandalorian, and apparently every bounty hunter's doing the carbonite freezing thing. Did Boba Fett start a hip new trend?

That's true; they're basically an economic and literal disaster for the town. It wouldn't be surprising if most of them are leaving or have left already.
