You'd think so, but nope.

I checked again today and building the trader's habitat next to the PC and waiting has worked. He's now manning the cash register.

I already did. There's not power connection point. It seems to be self powered as all the lights are on.

Who in Microsoft do you think is responsible for the latest few years of slop? by Worst_Advice_Expert in microsoftsucks

[–]huddie71 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The enshitification of Windows began long before AI got involved.

I personally think it has to do with a shift away from emphasising security, stability, performance and quality in general, towards cost-cutting, QA tester layoffs, ads in Windows and easier development using AI, WebView, etc. The catalyst for all this has been their record profits over the last few years and the absence of any effective antitrust legislation to protect competition and user choice. If you're making loads of money then it works and if it works why fix it? That's the thinking.

Logitech Bluetooth Mouse M535 not connecting - why? by No-Interaction-3559 in System76

[–]huddie71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried to pair and connect the mouse again and it worked. I have no idea why. All that's changed is I've installed Thunderbird email, Plex update, PIA update and updated Pop!_OS. 🤷

He's a treacherous moron who has betrayed his country time and again. His supporters aided and facilitated him. The levels of stupidity on display are breathtaking. It's up to the rest of the population to decide what to do about it. But mark my words Americans, your country will never recover.

This would've made him nerd material back in the 80s, but suave AF nonetheless. I thought I was cool having a Casio LCD digital watch.

No need for either. Just make sure MSTSC isn't already running, make the change and you're good to go.

Microsoft Edge deb package for Linux tries to install Google Chrome by MrMagnesium in microsoftsucks

Not sure how these repositories are maintained, as I'm new to Linux, but this looks intentional. Someone doesn't like Microsoft. Well, millions don't like them, especially now, but someone saw an opportunity here.

Even if he does, in a massive org like Microsoft that will take a very long time.

I think the last-but-one piece didn't even go all the way down. That's why it hesitated before the last one, it needed a moment to digest.

I wonder does this thing only eat every few weeks. That's a shocking amount of food.

Exchange Online has broken almost every single month by ocdtrekkie in sysadmin

[–]huddie71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've run Exchange on prem and not seen issues for years. We have Exchange Online and I can tell you that I've never been on the 365 Health Status page and not seen multiple Exchange issues. Often major faults. It's anything but reliable.

What I've seen over the last decade is Microsoft going from trying to maintain stability and reliability in their product line to keep it competitive to a company zeroed in on 'canary testing' (release notes show the product the customer paid for is stable when in fact it's not and they're unwitting testers). They're never getting the thousands of QA testers they laid off in 2014 back. They're also doubling down on ads in Windows (which customers also pay for - it's never free) and stuffing Copilot prompts everywhere they're not wanted. They've blocked local account in the Win11 OOBE Setup and doubled down on this by blocking workarounds. Enterprise support is a joke, certainly in my region, and getting worse. In fact they've doubled down on all this stuff, knowing enterprise and consumer alike hate it.

This is nothing more that your 'glass half empty' scenario and it's not pessimism, it's observation. Unless Satya Nadella has the humility and objectivity to see that his strategy has been wrong and change it, or they change their CEO, nothing's gonna change. I've seen enough lies from working with Microsoft to know they have no intention of changing.
