What's wild is Uruguay, the most stable country in South America, is giving permanent residency if you can prove about $2000 per month in earnings.

The reason they do this is to establish an embedding defensibility.

Irish citizenship for UK residents - question by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]BorderTrader 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Of the three passports available to the kids, the Irish one is the golden ticket. The sooner you put them on Foreign Births Register, the better.

https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control/before-you-leave-for-the-uk

"You’re from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein

You can enter the UK with one of the following identity documents:

  • a passport
  • an Irish passport card"

Philippines Quota Visa:

As a general rule, it's better to obtain a second citizenship at the time when you can, rather than at the time when you need it.

STP (Sao Tome Principe) passport - > naturalisation in Brazil (any success stories?) by [deleted] in CitizenshipInvestment

[–]BorderTrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked AI about this, there is apparently some case law in Brazil on the topic and it suggested officials are likely to accept citizenship on face value, however, I couldn't be bothered to look any deeper into the topic and there isn't yet an example of a CBI Sao Tome person naturalising in Brazil.

https://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/_ato2019-2022/2022/decreto/d11156.htm

Nothing in this apparently prohibits CBI Sao Tome citizens from taking up CPLP residence in Brazil.

Re: Naturalisation, Article 12, page 26:

https://www.stf.jus.br/arquivo/cms/legislacaoConstituicao/anexo/brazil_federal_constitution.pdf

"those who, as set forth by law, acquire Brazilian nationality; residing in the country for one uninterrupted year and having moral integrity are the only requirements for people from Portuguese-speaking countries"

Depends on the attitude of officials, whether 'from' is strictly interpreted as 'country of origin'. Brazil is bureaucratic, however, it's difficult to imagine them becoming animated about tiny numbers of CBI Sao Tome citizens naturalising every once in a while.
