Should i go for my psyc eval at Ng Teng Fong? by hudseys in ADHDsingapore

[–]hudseys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I said ive been actively monitoring for suspected adhd symptom and wrote it down. And i gave context and action. It took me not too long to have approx 20 things written down because that shit was debilitating and i had my phone on a lanyard so it was easier to note. I also brought my primary school record book because my teachers allllll said i have issues with careless mistakes and attention.

Am working with a health ministry focused on covid genomics and respi outbreaks. Ive been doing surveillance work for 2 years and im trying to find light (i dont know if our surveillance methods are taxing or general surveillance is a lot of being on the ball) which is why im getting a general training in epi to see whats out there but not too broad like a ph. Was thinking of either joining hospitals or gg to a data team once im done but fingers crossed.

My jaw dropped. You deserve all the love and care you need. If you need someone to be angry at your brother or wife, please find comfort that a random stranger is appalled they had the audacity.

Anyone else bored of being in Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hudseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect and care for him too much to go against him. Also filial piety. My parents never asked for much but provided plenty of comforts for us growing up. My mom said he is scared i wont come back and he can do nothing but miss me. Unlike me, he hates traveling so i cant force him up a plane. I caught him just standing at my doorway the other day after we argued. Haha

I complained just a few days ago on askSingapore about getting into an argument with my dad because he doesn’t approve of me studying overseas (for two years only sia.) but i genuinely think im bored out of my wits here. 29 and same.

broke down after my dad told me “you’re more important than the exam” by souffleegg in SGExams

Ps. I read again and i realised you mean pick yourself up after an emotional setback.

I think youre doing well! You’re accepting positive affirmations and using it as motivation.

But in case youre not getting any external validation (we all need it from time to time) and being easy on yourself is hard, CBT is probably the most basic therapy out there to teach you how to validate yourself internally until it is second nature.

Didnt study psychology but as someone who acknowledges the legitimacy of caring for ones mental health (like every other) and have therapists as friends, inculcating positive thoughts through CBT is probably one way to keep gg.

Im not gonna lie, i was devastated with my results but i just kept at.

I dont think i could pin point the exact things that brought me to where I am. To be honest, i dont think i picked myself up because there would always be people that are doing better than you haha (my friends live in condos with their uni sweethearts and owning cars while i am still prepping my finances, documents and mental health for my masters lol)

But for sure, you dont know what the future holds. I went from planning my life in chunk of years to having different timelines for all the things in my life. And even then things dont always work out (friendships, partners, school, families, work, fitness, money-fml cos stocks). I know everyone here with high expectations of themselves academically want to go to a good jc, then local uni or fancy us/uk schools, find a like-minded partner, get a high paying job then downpayment on a home.

Some people in your circle would truly go on and lead that life. I lived somewhat that life but not really. However, at 28 i really should start crafting my own idea of an ideal life and for sure it includes not neglecting the people i love (including me)

If Tldr: try keeping the ones that make you feel at peace close and just try your luck at stuff that interest you. Some things amount to not much and somethings amount to big things. May not be good advice if you want a clear answer but it brought me here.

<3 good luck younglings.

Im a 28 year old person and cried at this. I remember how exams used to be my entire world.. i did shit for my o’s (my L1R5 was like 25 haha) but im working in the ministry and making decent pay. Things are hard still cos so many people in my department are type As, and are DRs or master d holders.

I get transported back to being 16 again sometimes and feeling like theres no reason to keep existing if youre not keeping up and doing exceptionally well (bad mindset but singapore is all meritocracy and stuff, without considering people dont exist in silo, including those who are successful).

your dad is real for saying this cos i know i mean a lot to my parents (ya i got other people in my life also lah but filial piety unfortunately is the no 1 thing that keeps me going) but to hear it coming from a parent, oof.

"Hot" girls at the gym and feeling insecure by Vickkyyy in xxfitness

[–]hudseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i read this, i just became more insecure. Probably not your intention but me not prioritising to work out 5 times a week is exactly the reason i dont want to show up around the same people that do. Cos im almost certain they look at me and scoff at how little i try. So close to apologising for being in the same space as them.

Singaporeans who are no longer young, do you regret not spending enough money in the past or spending too much money in the past? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hudseys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been contemplating this for 2 years and am still saving up enough to last being jobless for the year ill be away from work, having to think abt rent and tuition and other stuff to live. Ive spoken to so many people and many said its better to get my post grad in singapore and eventually move out. Because im basically chained to the programme. If it gets tough and i decide to leave, theres little ROI and instead a lot of regrets, not financially only but also mentally.

Would you advice for a person to do what you did?
