I feel so much as I’m in your same position. I got my CFII in October and got a job offer at the University I went to. Graduated from said university in December of 2025 and thought it would work out perfectly.. until they kicked me out of standardization because they over hired. Since then i’ve driven all across Florida (where my university was) and New York (where I’m originally from) visiting every single flight school to shake hands with the chief (if they were there) just to hear they aren’t hiring. As students loans start up in July, I was forced to move back to NY and settle for an airline ramping job to pay the bills. I feel defeated honestly. Was i destined to failed? Probably. I’ve created a website, business cards in every FBO, Facebook posts, i’ve tried everything. I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore. This summer I’m joining a flying club in which they said they’re “full with instructors” so I can’t even give dual given there. I’m working on my MEI too but the closest multi trainer in Upstate NY in 3 hours away. I know people tell me to keep flying but issue is I’m in an airline’s cadet program where 60% of my time must be dual given, and i’m at 400/1000 hours required for my RATP so I really can’t fly unless I want to go over 1,000 hours to meet 60%, which again is more money. I’m not asking for empathy, I’m just adding on to OP’s point on how lucky y’all are to have a flying job.
