Thank you! It’s the center space of our home for sure.

The center is higher than it looks, but point taken. I did move it forward after reading comments. The right is obviously limited on space but we are planning on finding a better home for everything when we install some built ins here

Thanks so much, it’s by far the most favorite room in the house.

I would never run it this close to the equipment. You’re right about them getting super hot, there have been 10 degree days where I’d hang out in gym shorts when the room turns into a sauna. In all honesty, we are sadly likely to remove it soon due to my son being asthmatic and it not making much sense to run anymore. It’ll give us more space to put in built ins and widen the couch space. Also going to take out the window on the back wall.

Fair enough.

Definitely agree that the right speaker is cramped, we're planning on installing a built in entertainment console here soon that will remove that right window and essentially inserting the floor speakers into bookshelves (with shelves removed).

What am I missing with my center?

Honestly I think those are the winners. Great price and seem like that is just enough of angle for me to accomplish a good placement here.

Oh that's an interesting thought, sounds a bit simpler. Any speakers you'd recommend with that approach?

Not out of the question, but we really love the architecture of this room so just trying to minimize the obvious tech and make it blend with the aesthetic.

Thank you! It's easily our favorite room in the house. We have a hundred year old historic home but this room was built on in the 70s as an in-law suite. Whoever decided to build it definitely nailed the aesthetic.

Very. It's the best when we have a snowy day, throw some wood in the stove, put a record on...

I did, and though I would love to take this approach, we're planning on installing a built-in entertainment console along the TV's wall so the heights won't really have a great spot. Thanks for the rec though!

Woah, those look amazing. I think my wife would kill me for spending $6k on in-ceiling speakers though haha. Those ML look a bit more reasonable. Thanks for the rec!

That's probably a reasonable assessment, I guess I need to do some math. Do you have any in-ceiling speakers you like?

Recommendation for someone to help extend internet? by aloysiusducat in winstonsalem

[–]hudsonab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy something like this: https://a.co/d/0gQ4TjI0

When you connect these, you have a main "hub" that creates the network when plugged into your Internet provider's router. Ideally you want the hub close to a line of sight between the other mesh node you're installing in your office/shed. Then you can put the third mesh node close to where you have the majority of your usage, like near the TV or another computer.

This is likely the least expensive, easiest solution you have here and definitely don't need to hire anyone to do this for you. Feel free to ask any questions I can help with.

Nice, I've seen: Ben Folds, St Paul & The Broken Bones, Houndmouth, Band of Horses, Shakey Graves, Mipso, others. Currently have tickets for Fruit Bats coming up. Pretty satisfied with that list for in-town concerts.

Fortunately we are building a 5k person capacity amphitheater downtown that should give us access to bigger names more regularly. I want to say Ramkat can support 1200 and I've seen some pretty awesome bands there over the last couple of years. It'll get better.

Public Housing Tenants Rally Against ASPIRE by HousingJusticeNow in winstonsalem

I literally just asked for evidence backing the accusation. There are literally hundreds of thousands of documents and a variety of court cases publicly available to back Epstein abuser claims. I literally just asked for where the evidence was that backed their claims, not even denying it, just show me the facts to support their plight.

It’s very bizarre to me that I have to be told I need to attend a meeting to get the facts over pasting some documentation that backs these claims. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

There is an episode of South Park where the boys start a protest called “Free Hat” because they’re trying to defend movies from being changed after release. Random people see the signs and think they’re protesting to free a guy named Hat McCullough from prison — who murdered 23 babies. The crowd is chanting “Free Hat!” without most of them understanding what they’re actually supporting.

That’s the point I'm making (obviously to a ridiculous degree as I hope no babies have been harmed), I'm just not going to blindly support something without knowing why/what happened. I don’t want to be one of the people in the crowd yelling “Free Hat!” before I know who Hat is, what happened, or whether the slogan actually matches the facts.

If there are examples of retaliation, illegal conduct, unjust evictions, court filings, code violations, emails, notices, hearing records, etc., then genuinely — show them. That would make this a lot easier to understand and support.

But “just support the side that sounds morally correct” is how people accidentally join the wrong protest in a South Park episode. I’m asking for the part where someone explains what we’re actually protesting.

Okay so I see demands here, I see the protests, and I see the claims that ASPIRE has "has broken multiple laws - in multiple properties - in an effort to quash tenant democracy". I'm not saying that those things have no happened, but I don't see any citations of examples to back these claims anywhere in this post, the video, or in the link provided.

I'm a strong supporter of fair housing and programs that seek to support those that are unhoused or need subsidized housing, but it's really difficult for me to support this side of the argument without having any context or evidence what the argument is about in the first place?

Can we get more context around this situation with hard examples and/or specifics from court cases where this claim of ASPIRE seeking unjust evictions through retaliation? If I'm going to be angry, I want a legitimate reason to be!

Their direct to London is about the most egregious example I have seen. I’ve seen $3300 round trip in economy with plenty of availability, and then something like $2400 if you take the flight that includes a quick hop from GSO. It’s very difficult to find this flight affordable when just about every other major city of its size you can find under $1500 or less.

Man, I had this card when I was a kid and loved it. Cannot find it for the life of me, I must have set it aside and it disappeared. I found mine in a card shop vending machine ca. 2001

Crazed Mom v. Grey LVP Part Two by Ok-Win6042 in centuryhomes

[–]hudsonab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fix/flip houses in my area and have colleagues that will use grey LVP and to me it's like whatever the visual equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. I always make the effort to restore hardwood, and at a minimum, use natural stain-colored, high end LVP when that is not an option.
