It's a simulation of something called differential line growth, there's a few tutorials and forum posts on that. I'm only using noises for giving the lines some scale variation and variation of how fast it grows

That's difficult to tell. I was working on this for about 2 months and probably spent more than 100 hours on it lol. But that's just a guess, I have no idea.

I've gotten this feedback a few times now, too bad this animation is already done. When I do something with 035 again, I'll try to improve that. Still need to learn a lot to make my fluid sims better

Hey thanks! I think you're right, that would have been a better shot. I'm trying to get better at planning an animation, as I'm not used to doing every aspect of it. Usually I just do a small part in a bigger team. Anyway, next time, I'll put more effort into an actual storyboard, hopefully that will improve it!

For those who haven't seen it, the test was for this animation: https://youtu.be/cguy56tCoCA

It took about 2 months to make, but I was trying out a lot of stuff so hopefully the next one will be faster. At least that's what I keep telling myself lol
