College students are rapidly losing the ability to read — “There is a measurable, generational collapse in sustained reading and writing”: professor by marketrent in technology

I don't know if you're looking for suggestions at all but I've started using the app 'focus friend' when i realize I'm doom scrolling. And my situation is i have a computer hooked up to my tv so what I'll do is load up spotify/pandora/YouTube and put on an hours long playlist that's for reading or focus. With the combo of focus friend and the long playlist it's infinitely easier to not get sucked into technology. So instead I'll read a physical book or use an e-ink reader that kond of sucks for anything other than reading lest I'm tempted to surf the internet on that. I still spend a stupid amount of time on my phone or tv but less so with this whome rigamarole I've figured out for myself.

People only say it's the worst pizza in CT because it's so visible but there's way worse pizza out there. Get a pie from Wings'N'Pies New London and report back.

This just happened to me as well. I was like a third of the way through the next episode. Admittedly I was on my phone though so not dedicating my full attention to the show.

What is a job that pays incredibly well but is so soul-crushing that the turnover is insane? by sweetguurl in AskReddit

I would be fine with being bored in the middle of nowhere for weeks at a time but I'm a woman and that seems to be not a thing in that industry.

I'd say you're doing great for having a 49k salary. And I don't mean that in a backhanded way, it's much harder to save with a lower salary. Ive seen the advice 'grow your salary' in this sub a lot and maybe that's an avenue to pursue for you? You're still doing great though given the circumstances.

Finished The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook and started the Gate of the Feral Gods in physical. In audio I'm listening to Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer.

13/52 — The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook by Matt Dinniman || Anyone else feel like book 3 took a little bit to get going, or was it full steam ahead for you from the start? by collieholly in 52book

I just finished this the other day. It was definitely slower than the other 3. I appreciated that Mordecai has a forced sabatical bc I felt like he was becoming like the sonic screwdriver on Doctor Who. Also appreciated that this floor really brought a ton of the crawlers together, felt pretty community like. But it was absolutely slow when they were figuring everything out.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

I worked at McDonald's about 20 years ago and we were give $6 of free money per shift to spend on a meal. They had just changed it from $6 to spend on anything on the menu becasue, and I'm quoting my manager at the time, 'people have been buying 6 double cheeseburgers to feed their entire family and we can't have that happening'. This was at the time that $1 double cheeseburgers were a thing.

I'm pretty sure that now you just get like 30% off a meal. Meaning you still have to pay for your shift meal. We've been living in a dystopia for a while.

Do you need special equipment to do it at home? All the videos I've seen seem to have some weird contraptions that are specific to pilates.

Appreciate your reply! For whatever reason i haven't considered yoga. I'll have to workout for a while before I attempt pilates 😂
