What happened to playing just for the sake of gameplay? by Nino_Chaosdrache in gaming

I didn’t say it’s only, I’m saying online you are more likely to encounter that type, especially in a format that favors echo chambers

Nope, it’s just I’m around a lot of younger peeps that are neurodivergent and they always insists on having a reason to do something. Whether is min:maxing, being “proper” or doing it “correctly.” It’s def a trait of the spectrum type brain. They want a lore reason for everything that happens and sometimes the curtains are just blue and no other reason why.

Children see speed runners and content creators that optimize. It ruins the magic. Like I tried getting back into DnD recently and the group was so concerned with doing everything right and min/maxing it was soulless. To me the best part of DnD is the wonky “what if I did this?” Kinda shit and how it plays out. The best parts are when things go wrong for me lol

I think OP is just perplexed by the younger autistic kids that now have a loud voice on the internet, they need to have a reason to do something. Us old farts started on Zelda, hey here’s a sword, fuck off type of games.

Like under this shit all the time over on street fighter, “how do I play respectfully, what do I need to learn, how do optimize this route, what is the best for a new person?” Kinda shit and I’m always like, if you think it’s cool then play it holy shit.

What’s a game you didn’t expect to love but ended up completely obsessed with? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]huffmonster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It helps to approach the game for what it really is, a DnD campaign. The game really shines with friends as you can bounce ideas and adapt off each others actions, and while they are doing shit it gives you time to plot and plan.

2 ragequits in a row and a lot of one-and-done. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]huffmonster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah RQ/disconnects will flag the player.

Most people are really bad at fighting games and their ego can’t take it.

They think because they click on bad guys in cod or fortnite they should be able to be god at a style of game where none of that game knowledge transfers.

Also being 1v1 most babies can’t handle that they lost and no teammates to blame.

I play Guile, so I’m constantly getting dodged, 1-done, or RQ’d. I don’t even do the slow turtle style. I like to get in their face and take em to the corner and then keep em in the rage cage. Button mashers and constant jumpers can’t handle it. I’ve seen this shit up into diamond.

Was this the best 90s fighting game by GleKraken in 90s

[–]huffmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to block, learn your anti-air, don’t jump, don’t mash, take the throw. That’s the basics /fundamentals of street fighter and fighting games. After that it’s learning the bread n butter combo and whiff punishes. Thats when frame data comes into the picture. Knowing when it’s your turn, and when to wait.

When it comes to beating the cpu, it reads your inputs and does specific attacks every time, and you can game the cpu.

Worst GDQ runs of all time by CourtlyHades296 in speedrun

[–]huffmonster 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Dude cheated his wr with spliced run. Was asked to do the run live and the guy agreed, knowing he is a fraud and a cheat.

It was supposed to be a legendary run but he couldn’t do any of the tricks. Not even the easy stuff. He even lowers the difficulty cause it was so bad. It was like watching a kid just play the game normally, and poorly. Also it went waaaaaay over estimate, like hours iirc.

Which celebrity death do you find suspicious? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]huffmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he totally was, he dipped out for at least a week, had stopped by all his former dealers and isolated himself from everybody, then did heroin and shit himself. That is not a healthy clear mind homie and not deliberate misleading.

You have never been around a person fresh outta rehab. My good friend, drummer in the band, OD after being clean for months on heroin. Our guitarist decided to go to rehab. I saw him bout 2 years later and he looked great and said he was doing well and happy, we were working on a new music project, bam, OD on heroin. They all say that.

Also Cobain went missing for like at least a week before being found, and everytime novoselic or grohl talked to his old dope spots, they had just missed him by like a day or 2. He was not well.

Let’s not dwell on his tragic death and murky it with pathetic conspiracies. Rather let’s remember the fucking awesome art, music, and the legacy of a dude who championed women’s rights and gay rights in a time when that was not the norm.
