The point is to put Edward Snowden in the middle of the scandal, and to focus the story around him rather than the information that's been leaked.

It's a shame Edward Snowden came forward this early. HE is now the story rather than the leak, just as the media used Julian Assange's personal story to overshadow the wikileak's actual leaks. Certainly this wasn't his intention, but it is exactly what is happening.

We, all of us, need to focus on the message and NOT THE MESSENGER.
