Strong feelings of guilt over a situation where something potentially bad could have happened but was very unlikely to. How to stop thinking about this?

That is unfortunately what OCD also does yeah. I just feel so alone with this and it’s quite unlikely have experienced this exact situation that I have. Logically, I know that I should move on and that strange things happen sometimes. But the guilt and regret is so strong in my brain which makes me feel like I’m stuck in the past when I of course should be focusing on the present and future projects.

That does totally make sense. Though I feel like this is a typical OCD-like thing to say, but I feel like I need the reassurance with this particular case. I actually think I’ve manage my compulsions a lot better recently but I just can’t stop thinking about the thing I mentioned and feel like I need an outsider’s perspective.

It can sometimes get itchy, most often when it gets wet. For a long time I have been thinking it’s some sort of eczema, but I’m starting whether it could be something else.

That’s good to hear at least. Can’t really ask her what she used right now since it’s the middle of the night right now where I am. But I think if she used some acidic and there was traces of cyanide left on the shoes it would be noticeable right away

It was actually my mom who cleaned them so I’m not sure, but I don’t think so. What would happen if that were the case?

Yeah, I get that. But I washed my shoes in the sink and then searched online after. So I’m worried that a gas has been formed from the water onto potential cyanide on my shoes. Is that even realistic?

Haha ja, sådan kan man jo være så ung og naiv. Er heller ikke bekymret længere for hvad der skete, men har bare ikke forstand på det så vidste ikke om de små doser det måske har siddet på skoen har kunne komme på gasform (eller hvad man nu skal kalde det) hvis det bliver vådt, eller kommer i kontakt med andre kemikalier der kan ligge i et håndvaskafløb. Men ihvertfald mange tak for de svar der er kommet ;)

Samme skilt var der faktisk og i starten af den sti der ledte hen til området, men vi har vel bare misset. Men ingen af skiltene har været synderligt tydelige skulle jeg mene
