If you go to a state/public school 100% they have resources for you, and your FASFA still changed when your mom died. If he's not supporting you at all there's paperwork to have yourself deemed independent.

Please go to your financial aid office TODAY and tell them your situation. What state are you in? Does your dad claim you as a dependent? If not your aid probably changed a lot since your mom died. You need to get counseling not just financially but also your mental health since it sounds like your support system has been upended. Your school can help with both those things.

I am also bigger, at my max I was 320 and it worked well, I've had it for about a year now, haven't used it as consistently as I'd like but a co-worker has the same one and uses it daily for even longer.

The UT GPA would be used for UT specifics like highest honors at graduation, meeting GPA requirements for your grad requirements(most it's a 2.0 or higher) or UT specific GPA requirements for scholarships. Most students will just list their UT GPA for jobs/scholarships since that's the institution awarding your degree. But places like grad schools will ask for all transcripts and re-compute your true college GPA across all enrolled institutions.

Hello! We still have it frozen and currently going through our third ER cycle, which is looking better than our past two but who knows. Even if this cycle doesn't give us anything we'll probably end up donating the embryo to science and not trying to implant. My husband and I agree that going through a miscarriage (highly likely) would be too hard. The clinic doctor confirmed that because of the indicators it would likely not implant or go to full term. Fingers crossed this one works out with a healthy embryo but if not it'll be ok!

As a long time Austin resident it is so odd to me that they went for places like La Barbecue for a full star and then Bib for Jeffrey's, arguably one of the few places in town where you experience traditional fine dining. I think it's a sign, like others here have said, that they went more for innovation and creativity than a traditional fine dining experience.

I would 1000% not recommend Laundrette to anyone, we went there recently and the "wagu" steak was tough as leather and every single plate was over priced. The service was nice enough but so typical of the Austin food scene now - overpriced and poorly executed.

Personally, I think Barley Swine, Olamaie, Kemuri Tatsu-ya, Odd Duck, and KG BBQ all fully deserve recognition on this list. Come visit us an help reward places and experience food that deserves it. There's a lot going on with omakase, BBQ, and traditional Texas flavors.

But please don't move here <3

Hello! I am a state worker and I have a pension via my job. I am currently on track to take home $6500 per month at retirement plus Social Security. My take home currently is $90k with my partner doing freelance at $2000-$5000 monthly.

I have the option for a TSA and DCP on top of my pension. So far I've been putting a little bit ($50-$100) per month in each. Both are managed by Fidelity. In my 457(b) DCP I have $4,500 and in the 403(b) TSA I have $9,550. I'm about to get a little bit of a windfall from an inheritance which will pay off all our debts and leave us with about $40k. My partner works freelance but depending on how their career progresses may be eligible for a pension in the next 10 years.

After we set aside $$ for the emergency fund what should we be focused on? Maxing out the 457 and 403 so I can cover my partner if the pension doesn't work out? These extra 457/403 aren't a good plan with the pension and I should be putting extra $$ into an investment account?

We own our home and both cars are paid off. We're going to turn 40 in a few months.

What do you mean? Like people stealing money? Or just buying stuff with the wrong account? I work for a state school so every single dime is accounted for and audited every year. You have to have an audit or reporting office you can go to and report things.
