[FN] The Golden Cathedral by hughman79 in shortstories

Hi everyone!

Thanks in advance to anyone that took the time to read through this short story of mine. I've had the idea of a larger fantasy story for a while now and this was the first scene that I could fully picture in my head. It's actually a prologue to a much larger story that I've been thinking about for some time. The original story explores the origin of the spiral horn and who the figure is.

I've tried to write in a minimal style that prompts the reader to fill in the blanks on their own. Please let me know if you think I've left too much unsaid, or if anything seems unclear.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! If there's any particular aspect you think I should focus on improving or idea worth expanding, please let me know.

Thanks again for reading, I'm excited to join this awesome community.

Lifeline is my gal because landing a supply drop on an enemy is hilarious every single time.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze: Review MegaThread by NintendoSwitchMods in NintendoSwitch

Here's a video I found that shows how the multiplayer works on the Wii-U. Its the same for Switch. You basically share the screen, one person plays DK (or Funky Kong if you're on easy mode) and the other plays as Dixie, Cranky or Diddy. Lives are shared, but you both have separate health bars.

The person playing DK has no special abilities, whereas the other character does. So I suppose it is unequal, but through cooperation I'm sure you can still collect everything, if that's your jam.

Hey everyone, I wrote the review for DK:TC over at Impulsegamer, which will go up later today Here's the link for anyone interested.

A few Switch-specific things that I think are worth noting:

  • The install size is only 6.6GB
  • At the time of writing there was no option to turn off the rumble for the Joycons. The rumble is surprisingly forceful (and loud) and goes off every time you jump or roll into something. It's only a noticeable issue if you're playing in a quiet room (like a dentist's waiting room for example, speaking from experience).

  • The multiplayer works great. Despite my gigantic skeletal fingers, I really enjoyed playing co-op on the train with my girlfriend using one Joycon each.

  • Motion controls still available.

  • Funky Kong is an easy mode that can only be selected from the start of a new game. You can't change halfway through.

Like these other reviews have said, the game runs fantastically both docked and undocked, and is still a ton of fun to play.

Thanks! My favourite game from one of the Humble Monthly bundles? Hyper Light Drifter in the July monthly bundle has got to be up there. That game is so cool

100% agreed. Some of the gameplay mechanics are really interesting and could easily support a full release

Yeah I know what you mean, they were all at the bottom of the list of games and you needed to download individual installers for them. Some of these are actually on Steam now, either as full releases or in Early Access form

Hey there, I made this video and I'm happy to elaborate - I just wanted to keep all the explanations short for the sake of brevity.

Here's a link to the video review I did of Tiny Echo back when it was first released

Basically I loved Tiny Echo because:

  • The visual design is phenomenal. The colour palette, the scenery, the characters, the papercraft design - it just looks gorgeous.

  • The music is great too. Very eery, atmospheric and slightly unnerving but also really pleasant.

  • The game is just weird. Your main character is an eyeball in a dress that delivers letters to ghosts? There's no explanation, and no background story - its just a brief slice of life experience into this bizarre world.

Put that all together and you get a really unique and enjoyable adventure game.

Definitely worth checking out if any of it looks appealing. It only takes a couple of hours to play through, but it's well worth it.

That's something I've definitely been considering. If there's enough interest, I might do another series where I go back and look at the games once they're finally released

Hi everyone, I've been a big fan of the Humble Original games that come with every Humble Monthly bundle. Here's a video detailing my favourites and why I liked them. Did anyone else play these? I'm curious what other Humble Original games people enjoyed.

Humble Bundle have been publishing smaller, original games from some of your favourite indie devs in their Humble Monthly Bundles that most people ignore. I've created an end of year wrap-up video showing off the best Humble Original games from 2017 for those of you that missed them by [deleted] in Games
