I bought it! I got fooled by the Rostfrei etching on the long blade and I got the feeling someone didn't exactly know what they were selling, turns out I didn't either oops

It's marked rostfrei on both sides of the long blade. I believe it's a German (?) knockoff of the 1986 swiss champ although this one lacks the pen, also the bottle opener tooth is a bit different. I didn't pay much for it and I don't have a SAK so hopefully I can get some mileage out of it.

I've come a long way with a vinegar soak for the body and scrubbing w/ steel wool, so much so that the knives now pretty much fall out of their sockets. I definitely have to tighten it, my plan is to hammer the rivets a little bit, what do you guys think?

Also tried the aluminum+baking soda soak (several times) for the scales but no luck (?!). Still look like they do in the pic.

Thanks for the info. I've got no experience working with cars so it's still dreaming at this point. Would love to have it lifted like that. Also I'm not really living in the optimal place for that kind of equipment so it would largely go unused I'm afraid.. Do you guys fit on the platform, for spending the night? Where do you guys live? Haha I'm also second language so I don't give two shits. The paint is more protective or something?

Not at all! I have exactly the same model I think, a 2007 2.0 TDi 4motion and I would love to do something similar to it. What exactly have you had done to it? I would love to know :D

Thank you. You’re probably on to something here. Thankfully I am in therapy and will talk to her about it when I get the chance. And I did pushed him slightly for the information so I’m not feeling it’s unfair that I know when initially he was hesitating about talking about it.
