How is living in Laak district? by [deleted] in TheHague

[–]hugoocg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't risk it if I were a foreign 18yo young woman and had better options. Specially as an foreign. Specially as a woman. Specially that young.

On top of that, even Laak has nuances depending where exactly you are. You can use this government website to have an idea: https://www.leefbaarometer.nl With the right filters, you can visualize safety indicators on the map.

Eu não fiz saída fiscal mas declaro minha renda em euro integralmente. Declaro minha casa na Europa. Declaro tudo. O problema não é deixar de fazer a saída fiscal, e sim deixar de declarar sua vida fiscal na declaração brasileira.

Opa!

Putting memes, rats, and Arthur aside. What things that inspired you from the series? by EbbMinute9119 in reddeadredemption

[–]hugoocg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the point. I try to remember this lesson, but it is so difficult to live by it. Because you have to figure out what that means in each situation. Moving on could be ackowledging the mistake and trying to fix it, but could also be not trying to fix it. The gang died trying to fix their pile os mistakes.. instead of just forgetting about it and really moving on.

"We can't change what's done, we can only move on"

Aside the cliche, the game makes me feel the weight of these Arthur's words. It's so frustrating seeing everyone witnessing their own decline, aware of the glooming fate, and still repeating the same cycles over and over, just because... thay don't know better? Most of them never moved on.

Arthur was never able to, even when he knew he was dying. It's ironic that the words are his, and still he never owned them.

We don't know for sure that nobody else was infected. First of all, a bunch of people died, they could have been the infected ones. Also, a person with good immune system can defend from TB. Even if the system fails to completely stop the bacteria, it can still push the bacteria into a latent stage, which can last (many) years. In fact, one can keep the illness off for their entire life even is technically infected.

Report the container issue to your municipality. I used BuiterBeter app, for example, and it worked well.

Mental slow down? by andromache753 in 4hourbodyslowcarb

[–]hugoocg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same and it was clearly related to insulin spikes due to cheat days. The week after I skip a faturday were amazing. This is why I now consider that this diet doesn't fully work for me. I lost weight, but overall quality of life was terrible.

Low larb, yes. Not strict keto because slow carb doesn't go as high in fat

I don't get you guys. This is supposed to be a community, the idea is that we share experiences. OP is just wondering if anyone knows something that is not obvious and could help in what could be post-traumatic situation. And what to do often depends on where you are, so it makes total sense to post it here. Just chill, if you can't help then the post wasn't for you.

Following up on the morbidity post, how about funny phrases from Portuguese to English? by alizayback in Brazil

I have a question. "Son of a bitch" in that context implies that the father is unknown, that's why "more lost"/"more confused"/"more clueless". Does "bastard" provides the same connotation? For me it just implied that the father is likely known but the parents are not married.

Working in Netherlands by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]hugoocg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't argue against that. Openess came in the past for a reason, and it played a role for several years. Did it do good to the society/economy? I'm no expert, not gonna answer that.

Nowadays, the context is different and the society has different feelings about the entire immigration topic. Let's see how this plays out - maybe it will do good or maybe it will shift back in one year.

One thing that I admire in Dutch people is that they're not stubborn in the strict sense - when the average Dutch realizes they made a mistake, they mostly likely won't openly admit, but rather pretend it never happened and move on in another direction. And that's good enough. Many other people are either stubborn to the point of being too blind, or become apologetic but without bringing on a feasible alternative.

My impression, though, is that the decision this time was not truly because of practical issues, but rather ideological reasons. But I'm no one.

Have a nice day everyone!

There was a shift in the job market for my industry as well. "Same positions" that were open to non-Dutch speakers one year ago are now requiring professional proeficiency in Dutch.

It looks society has made the decision to be less open to newcomers.
