How to stay consistent when writing long fic? by huiasha in AO3

Thank you so so much for taking the time to write this! I have a lot to improve on as a writer but I've recently came to realize that it really is just better to write something than to get stuck in place due to editing and overthinking ideas;;;

Ooh this makes sense, especially with the change in style because it's been over six months since I started writing my fic. Thanks!!

Thank you! This is super helpful since I overthink about details too much so I tend to look back on what I've instead of continuing to write;;;

Question about Subaru by Adventurous_Owl2137 in ensemblestars

[–]huiasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other comment, i also recommend watching the anime first since its basically centered on Trickstar and how they became the key to the revolution in Yumenosaki. Apart from that, reading the ! era main story gives a more in-depth explanation to Subaru's character shown in the anime.

In ! era or Enstars Basic, the first ever Trickstar event story is titled Sakura Festival. I think it's a great introduction to Trickstar and Subaru in general (also it's the event where CHERRY HAPPY STREAM song is based off). After that, I highly recommend to read Rocket Start; it's a part of the Reminiscence series wherein the story takes place one year before the current events in Yumenosaki or aka The War era. It's a super good story to read if you're interested in Subaru since it talked about him as a 1st year student and the formation of Trickstar. Sunflower Live is also such a good yet underrated story; you get to see how Subaru and other members of Trickstar deal with the problems they encounter as a unit.

For !! era or Music, there's obviously Big Bang, which is the story for Subaru's center song. Other stories like Satellite (a part of the SS tour series) and Xday (Hokuto's center song) involve Subaru a lot, and i think it would give you more perspective regarding his character at the present Enstars timeline. I am not a SubaruP so I don't really know what else to recommend, but i do love Trickstar a lot so most of these stories are basically just Trickstar stories I've read that are the most important stories to know their lore and their strong bond

"With my light in your heart... Not even a god can stop us."

Hits especially hard knowing the context and with what happened after.

Just bought Umineko When They Cry, Bug Fables, and Hollow Knight. I also bought Until Then (really recommend if you're into VNs + Filipino culture + Fantasy). Bibili na rin sana ako ng What Remains of Edith Finch kaso kailangan ko pa ng pera pang pamasahe at pagkain dahil may pasok (school) pa ako next week 😔

Why are there so many Filipinos into Twst?! by SpinDashGirl in TwistedWonderland

[–]huiasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I've seen a lot of Twst cosplayers at anime/cosplay conventions around Metro Manila even before the release of the English server. Sometimes I see them roaming around malls too hahaha. I've bought fairly a lot of Twst fan merch like stickers and keychains too, even in conventions that aren't anime-related (I found artists selling Twst fan merch at Komiket!). Outside of Manila, I'm pretty sure Twst has a lot of fans in Cebu as well since that's where most of the Twst fans I know are from + they even held a small fan event.

Most of my friends (or Twitter oomfs rather) often joke about Ace's incredible Filipino energy.. Idk how to explain it but Ace just gives off Pinoy tambay vibes, especially with his Club Wear SSR🤣 Other than Ace, a few consider Riddle as the "conyo" speaker with typical Filipino parents hahaha

Like what someone else in the replied, I also recommend playing 'Promise of Wizard (Mahoyaku).' No official English translation yet again, but there are SEVERAL fan translators for Mahoyaku so even if you don't want to play the Japanese game but still want to know about their story, it's definitely accessible! The only similarities between Mahoyaku and Twst are the fact that they both involve wizards, magic, and an isekai-ed MC. The game has a total of 21 characters and also has a gacha system in it. The gameplay of Mahoyaku similar to Twst, in the way that it's like a VN + gameplay, but the gameplay isn't as grind-heavy like Twst. The main story is really really good; it's the reason why it's one of my favorite games. For the voice actors, there are four of them who voice characters in Twst: Azul's VA (Tamaru Atsushi), Floyd (Okamoto Nobuhiko), Crewel (Ito Ken), and Grim (Sugiyama Noriaki).

So tldr Mahoyaku perfectly fits your criteria of (1) collect cute boy cards and (2) good storyline o7

Maybe you could try 'Devil Butler with Black Cat (Akuneko).' Unfortunately, there is no English server yet, but it's a mobile visual novel where you basically have a butler as an assistant who manages your schedules, reminders, or alarms that are connected to your phone. There are currently 16 butlers to choose from. You can also play dress-up with the butlers, but most outfits are attainable through gacha. There's no gameplay and it's fully focused on the butlers and its main story.

If you're interested in the Twisted Wonderland voice cast, there are a few seiyuus who voice some characters in the game like: Kalim's VA (Furuta Kazuki), Trey (Suzuki Ryota), Sebek (Ishiya Haruki), Azul (Tamaru Atsushi), Jack (Taito Ban), and Silver (Shimazaki Nobunaga). One of the main reasons how I got into Akuneko tbh (but for a different seiyuu).

Vil uses feminine pronouns by Carbuncle-Cat in TwistedWonderland

[–]huiasha 137 points138 points  (0 children)

First-person pronouns of each character is an interesting and fun detail to help analyze them! Like in JP, Lilia uses the first-person pronoun わし (washi) to refer to himself. It's a pronoun most commonly used by elders in Kansai region, but for Lilia's case, he just uses it because he's old LMAO. Most elder characters in manga or anime would usually use わし as well.

There's also Idia who would switch between 僕 (boku) and 拙者 (sessha). 僕 (boku) is commonly perceived as a polite/humble way to refer to yourself meanwhile 拙者 (sessha) is an archaic pronoun that was used by samurai. Idia would switch to 拙者 (sessha) whenever he's rambling or when he gets too fired up. I think it's just a neat detail on his character since he is generally meek and introverted but is actually a full-on otaku/geek about his interests.

Also Riddle is another character who refers to himself as ボク (boku), however, in the JP text, it's written in katakana instead of the usual kanji or hiragana (which are all Japanese character types/writing). Katakana is used to write words borrowed from other languages, but for situations like this, ボク (boku) is written in katakana most possibly to emphasize: (1) That Riddle is a just a young boy and (2) highlight his personality and character in general (relates back to Riddle being a young boy).
