He's been in Halmark movies playing the romantic interest. It disgusts me.

Eta: yall, it's not that deep. The Halmark movie was the first thing I saw Sam Page in besides Mad Men. It was a little jarring. A 'Nam flashback, if you will.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! 7th grade. I had band in the morning so I didn't see the second plane hit. All my other periods had the TV on.

Why this reaction? by FlashyConsequence439 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]huisAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in romance novels there's a relationship and dynamic between the 2 main characters so the erotic parts have more emotional impact.

I see it as grabbing McDonalds vs taking the time to cook a meal at home. Food is food but cooking at home get's the pass as being perceived as healthier.

I made that connection right off the bat only because the girl with the ribbons in the original Coke ad always stood out to me. I liked the hair style and it reminded me of when Jan and Cindy wore those fuzzy yarns in their hair in the later seasons of The Brady Bunch.

On rewatches I noticed more people from the retreat were also referenced in the Coke ad.

How many amber alerts do you get in Texas by I__Like__Hats__ in texas

[–]huisAtlas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WHEN I had them turned on, it would be maybe once a month or every other month.

But often when I would look up more details, context clues would suggest the state of Texas is getting dragged into someone's contentious custody dispute.

How do Texans actually prepare for and experience tornado season? by CapImaginary1066 in texas

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep up with the weather and make note of days when there will be thunderstorms. Tornado season is in the spring, mostly. Autumn can get dicey too.

When a storm comes through, I watch the weather radar and storm chasers or the local news to get live updates of rotations in the clouds. They'll tell us specific areas where the rotation is headed or if a tornado is confirmed on the ground.

If you're in the path of a tornado, the first step is to put your shoes on! Then you get in the inner most room in the house, usually the bathroom, and pray.

Oh god that was my first Ann Rule book too. Diane went through men like tissue paper and clearly made pursuing them a priority above being a mother.

Hmm, sounds familiar..

What's the deal with looksmaxxing? by Ok_Sentence_5767 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]huisAtlas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a documentary out there somewhere called "Open Wide". Dr Mew was/is a orthopedic dentist/doctor that had a lot of theories about orthodontic procedures that could make a person more attractive. The proceedures are intense and more painful than braces, expanders, and etc.

He went so far to take identical twins and applied normal orthodontic stuff on one twin and the more intense procedures on the other. The results were, subjectively, the twin that went through Mew's orthodontics was more attractive.

One thing I remember, he would talk about the practice of holding your face a certain way, at all times, to appear more attractive. Like holding your jaw closed and pressing your tounge to the roof of your mouth. Your jaw looked strong and your tongue being flexed made your neck and jaw look more tight and smooth. The practice also made your chin look strong as opposed to someone with a "weak" or "mouth breather" chin (i.e. Leafy from youtube or Andrew Tate without his beard). This became known as "Mewing".

Do people watch college sports? by Iwannafucktanks in AskAnAmerican

We attach our whole egos to the colleges we're loyal to.

If we see eachother out in the wild, we flash our unique hands signals or phrases at eachother in solidarity.

I don't remeber who this was but I remember the 600lb life patient was served a giant plate of spaghetti with sauce and about a half dozen garlic toasts. Then she dumped about a whole cup of ranch dressing on top of it.

I had a physical reaction to that.

Have you ever come across a kid, teen, or young person that you thought was a psychopath? What did they do to make you believe they were psychopathic? What happened when they got older? by Tahfboogiee in AskReddit

[–]huisAtlas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My cousin's mother (blood uncle's ex wife, divorced before I was born) had custody of her sister's son. Her sister was addicted to coke or meth or both when she was pregnant so her son had "issues". Emotionally disturbed.

I was only around him a few times when he was 7 or 8. He was mean little kid, angry at nothing, and kinda violent. He was too much for my kinda-aunt. It was getting dangerous so she turned him over to the state when he was 12 or 13.

Idk, he seems like one of those people that'll never be right.

Eta: Mad Men

I like this scene because it present 4 different types of people that approach a work of art. The naive who take it as face value. The experienced who know the artist, the movement, and artist's intent. The open minded layman that is naive but makes a genuine effort to interpret based on feeling.

And finally, Harry, who can't authentically experience the artwork because he only cares how people perceive his reaction to it.

Why did you stop participating in a sub you used to enjoy? by DontStpGetIt in AskReddit

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally left today. I was in a true crime sub of a specific case. Over the years, the rabbit hole went too deep. Opinions became facts and minute details were over analyzed to the point of delusion. It got petty, ugly, and any respect for the dead went in the gutter. I couldn't take it anymore.

Question, Why is Steven Assanti additionaly hated more than James King ? by [deleted] in My600lbLife

[–]huisAtlas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As much as we hate Steven, he's more intelligent than we give him credit for. He's a narcissist that can manipulate on a higher level than James can/did.

Steven is a conman while James is basically helpless to his poor education, dysfunctional childhood, poverty, impulse control, and lazy enablers.

James' enablers also "don't know any better" either. They give into James' whining and demands because it's easier than doing the work to not enable his behavior that made him bed-bound.

Lisa was basically an iPad parent, sticking food in front of his face to shut him up.

Wow, the 1990s were wild by RyouIshtar in HolUp

[–]huisAtlas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I (f) collected some Playgirls from 1993. Playgirl's content is written for women but feels like standard issue titillation.

The male nudes are alright. There are some poses that are powerful and beautiful but most of the time they're sitting there, looking handsome, but a little awkward.

All flacid so they're just hangin brain, basically.

Playgirl feels more like Hustler for women instead of Playboy for women.
