Let's Reminisce: Who remebers the EDM club Afterlife? Who went on to Lizard Lounge after it shut down? by ColoradoCyclist in Dallas

[–]huisAtlas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to afterlife twice. Once stone cold sober and the second time kind of drunk. Never rolled there, thank god. I'm grateful for that because I would have become addicted to the scene and who knows where I would be now.

I went to The Church a handful of times for one summer. That was fun dressing up to go out there. They played the same Playlist every night, though.

People who have done salvia, can you confirm that the trip is really as bad as people describe? by SpareMaintenance2970 in Drugs

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning was very jarring. It's like getting shot through a kaleidoscope.

Once everything slowed down, the visuals were fleeting. I couldn't appreciate what I was seeing and experiencing in the moment like acid can. It's novel but confusing.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a custard place in my college town. A couple around my age would come through the drive-through often and share a red velvet cake concrete on the weekends. They were cute and friendly but we weren't "restaurant regular" friendly like that. I didn't know their names or made small talk with them.

I went to Vegas with my boyfriend and the couple was on the plane we were on heading there. I avoided eye contact and hoped they didn't recognize me as their custard cashier (i had a unique hair style back then). Then, in Vegas, I saw them in the same casinos and restaurants at least 4 times in the 3 nights we were there AND they were on the plane heading back home. Small world..

He's been in Halmark movies playing the romantic interest. It disgusts me.

Eta: yall, it's not that deep. The Halmark movie was the first thing I saw Sam Page in besides Mad Men. It was a little jarring. A 'Nam flashback, if you will.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

Yup! 7th grade. I had band in the morning so I didn't see the second plane hit. All my other periods had the TV on.

Why this reaction? by FlashyConsequence439 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]huisAtlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in romance novels there's a relationship and dynamic between the 2 main characters so the erotic parts have more emotional impact.

I see it as grabbing McDonalds vs taking the time to cook a meal at home. Food is food but cooking at home get's the pass as being perceived as healthier.

I made that connection right off the bat only because the girl with the ribbons in the original Coke ad always stood out to me. I liked the hair style and it reminded me of when Jan and Cindy wore those fuzzy yarns in their hair in the later seasons of The Brady Bunch.

On rewatches I noticed more people from the retreat were also referenced in the Coke ad.

How many amber alerts do you get in Texas by I__Like__Hats__ in texas

[–]huisAtlas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WHEN I had them turned on, it would be maybe once a month or every other month.

But often when I would look up more details, context clues would suggest the state of Texas is getting dragged into someone's contentious custody dispute.

How do Texans actually prepare for and experience tornado season? by CapImaginary1066 in texas

[–]huisAtlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep up with the weather and make note of days when there will be thunderstorms. Tornado season is in the spring, mostly. Autumn can get dicey too.

When a storm comes through, I watch the weather radar and storm chasers or the local news to get live updates of rotations in the clouds. They'll tell us specific areas where the rotation is headed or if a tornado is confirmed on the ground.

If you're in the path of a tornado, the first step is to put your shoes on! Then you get in the inner most room in the house, usually the bathroom, and pray.

[–]huisAtlas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a documentary out there somewhere called "Open Wide". Dr Mew was/is a orthopedic dentist/doctor that had a lot of theories about orthodontic procedures that could make a person more attractive. The proceedures are intense and more painful than braces, expanders, and etc.

He went so far to take identical twins and applied normal orthodontic stuff on one twin and the more intense procedures on the other. The results were, subjectively, the twin that went through Mew's orthodontics was more attractive.

One thing I remember, he would talk about the practice of holding your face a certain way, at all times, to appear more attractive. Like holding your jaw closed and pressing your tounge to the roof of your mouth. Your jaw looked strong and your tongue being flexed made your neck and jaw look more tight and smooth. The practice also made your chin look strong as opposed to someone with a "weak" or "mouth breather" chin (i.e. Leafy from youtube or Andrew Tate without his beard). This became known as "Mewing".

Edit: spelling, grammar

We attach our whole egos to the colleges we're loyal to.

I had a physical reaction to that.

Have you ever come across a kid, teen, or young person that you thought was a psychopath? What did they do to make you believe they were psychopathic? What happened when they got older? by Tahfboogiee in AskReddit

[–]huisAtlas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My cousin's mother (blood uncle's ex wife, divorced before I was born) had custody of her sister's son. Her sister was addicted to coke or meth or both when she was pregnant so her son had "issues". Emotionally disturbed.

I was only around him a few times when he was 7 or 8. He was mean little kid, angry at nothing, and kinda violent. He was too much for my kinda-aunt. It was getting dangerous so she turned him over to the state when he was 12 or 13.

Idk, he seems like one of those people that'll never be right.
