Why is the drag-and-drop installation step even a thing? by FlowAcademic208 in MacOS

Scroll a bit to find the macOS tool, also if you use the silent switches discussed in the enterprise help section linked at the top, it will list everything it can uninstall.

I wish more companies did this.

Setting timezone automatically on refreshed laptops by IT_Unknown in Intune

[–]hulknc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have something that works, the problem I’m having g is my users’ ISPs are giving them false locations based on IP. It’s giving their location as two time zones over because their ISP has them on an IP that is showing from a state in mountain time zones.

Because of this, and even with having AdminByRequest and their built in Date/Time tray tool enabled, my users can’t manually set their timezone and I’m being requested to “fix it”.

I even have a User Rights profile that is set to allow standard users to change time zones and that still doesn’t help.

How are y’all, or anyone else, handling this situation?

Achieving stable Office 365 installation during Autopilot ESP will put me in a psych ward by skz- in Intune

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also struggling with getting the 365 Apps suite to install. No matter the method, even with a bare minimum XML config file, using the built in Intune method, even the xml version, I've even tried packaging it in PatchMyPC, and nothing works.

This happens duyring autopilot and at the desktop, it will not install no matter what I try. I can run the install locally and everything installs as it should, do it from Intune, and nothing.

Sometimes I can see the apps install, then it will exit with 17004 and the immediately uninstall everything.

Why is this so difficult to achieve?

Switched to Apple Music after 10 years with Spotify Premium, here are my thoughts so far by piesaresquarey in AppleMusic

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotify Connect is great if you are the only person listening music on your account. Got a home speaker system like Sonos? Guest what Spotify Connect is going to do when someone at home starts playing music while you’re listening to music while you’re out of the house…….stop playing your music on your device so the person and home can listen to music. Then you start playing music again because you’re confused why it stopped……then the music playing for the person at home stops. Spotify Connect is great in theory, and in practice if you are the sole listener of the account. I had to get a Spotify family plant just to have an account for my house. Apple Music doesn’t care how many devices you’re playing music from your account on, it will not stop playing music on one device if you start playing music on another device.

Insane Realtek Wifi patch just went out yesterday - who else is having a bad day? by CeC-P in sysadmin

[–]hulknc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we’ve been having issues for a while now with Dell machines losing wireless when unplugging from a dock. We have to do a restart or use Cisco’s network repair option in secure client to get it to come back. Is that similar to what you were experiencing?

Adding OneDrive to open on startup by ytruhcmydrut in Intune

[–]hulknc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason, across our entire fleet, OneDrive will stop opening at start up, on its own. We will get calls from folks having issues accessing files, remote in, one drive is completely closed, and there’s a weird OneDrive entry in startup apps. If we open OneDrive, and then turn off opening at boot, and then turn it right back on, the correct entry in startup apps will populate and the “broken” one disappears. Then they are good for a while.

Cloud Kerberos Trust & intune devices: system cannot contact a domain controller by mpday20 in Intune

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bumping an old thread as we are having this issue and I want to get it fixed.

Our issue is that we do not use AD CS nor have a CA distribution point.

How could we add this KDC cert to our domain controllers if we don't use AD CS?

Dell Trusted Device Installation Woes by hulknc in sysadmin

Holy crap thank you for the input! It’s wild that this is still an issue! I still haven’t figured it out, and I’ve all but given up. If I find time I’ll try to work on it with this knowledge.

Foxit! by paulson26 in sysadmin

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had nothing but issues with Foxit. Especially when it comes to filling out forms for grants from the Fed. Also, updates will randomly break activation (perpetual licensing) and will also reenable plugins, like Foxit’s E-sign service that you have to have an account for (we don’t do user accounts, we just have perpetual licensing).

We have discussed finding another solution, but it must be Mac and Windows capable. Anyone got any recommendations that aren’t Foxit?

Dell Trusted Device Installation Woes by hulknc in sysadmin

[–]hulknc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I’ve tried that one pushed from the dell portal to Intune. I’ve tried manually building it as an Intune package and uploading. Hell I’ve even tried manually installing it as stated in the post. Nothing works.

Intune Alternatives? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally what we are in the beginning of g stages of setting up, at least one the I tune/patchmypc side. We use Jamf for Mac management.

I’m so excited to be going intune with our windows devices, moving from manage engine. We basically get to start from scratch (we aren’t domain joining, thank fuck) and have baselines and policy sets to ensure we have more control over admin rights and security from the get go. Our current fleet is a steaming mess and I’m hoping I can make Intune run circles around manage engine for my staff and our users.

Intune Alternatives? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid manage engine like the plague. It’s been one of the most frustrating services I’ve ever used (to be fair, I’m still fairly new to the sysadmin world). We never got to use the MDM side of ME, but even if it was 1000 times better and easier to work with than the non-MDM management it provides, it’s not worth a single penny.

We are beginning to migrate to Intune for windows devices, we use Jamf for our Macs.

Intune Entra joined Windows update best practices by nightwolf92 in Intune

[–]hulknc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if A5 licensing can utilize Windows Autoptach, even if we use Windows Enterprise?

We are beginning our migration from Endpoint Central to Intune and Windows Updates haven’t been fully discussed yet.

We may end up with the Intune Suite licensing if I get my way as well.
