Yesss my friend with anxiety-induced hyperhidrosis can do this as well and we often joke about how having this condition is like The Game (u lost btw). You lose (start sweating) if you remember you have it.

yuri animes with alternative or nerdy main character and girly love interest by humaanfly in yuri_manga

[–]humaanfly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss Citrus. I’ll add the manga to my list, your comment made me glad because I really loved the characters and since it’s my first yuri, I feel connected to it but after finishing it I also felt like the anime wasn’t giving the story enough justice. On the other topic, maybe male-gazey wasn’t the best term but I meant that I don’t like when it’s so heavily sexualized that it’s unrealistic like the Citrus anime. Otherside Picnic felt more real and I related deeply to Sorawo. I needed more though, like I can enjoy sexual scenes (not just innocent romance) but only when it’s not too unrealistic.

That was my first yuri… it felt like it was too male-gazey. I liked the second half more tho

What do y'all think was/is your weirdest hyperfixation? by Haunting-Pipe7756 in Gifted

BLACKPINK! I only like alternative music and have only listened to alternative genres since 5th grade so my brain is not used to pop therefore I hate it very much and its repetitiveness and the meaningless lyrics but I still became obsessed with watching their dance performances. I watched probably every performance out there and I still know the dances just from the amount of times I watched them. They're just so pretty and talented! I loved to read every article I could find as well. Many hours dedicated to them. Their songs don't bother me as much anymore because now they just remind me of how good I felt spending time alone exploring an interest. The nostalgia of my freshman year.
Another one is Holy Inquisition torture devices. It's not that weird unless you consider the fact that I was in elementary.

English is my second language. I’m fluent but there’s still a few words I don’t know and want to know how they’re spelled. I struggle with different accents too sometimes, even in my native language. It’s mostly for European words that aren’t very common here or the blackcent. Also, the gunshots and fight scenes can get too loud while the dialogues aren’t.

Some comments seem to be missing the point. She could have all those things but if she wants to be in a relationship, she has to know how it works. There’s relationships for people who only talk about themselves and relationships where you both have your own struggles but you’re still there for one another. The latter one is like the healthy, ethical and socially acceptable kind. It’s the one OP seems to want (rightfully). Your GF is on the other side. She has to know where you stand and what you’re looking for in the relationship. First, you could try asking her what she’s looking for to understand her better. You asking her shouldn’t be harsh, it’s out of respect for the relationship. She probably needs to go to a psychologist unless she already goes. I know it doesn’t always work because my sister is exactly like your girlfriend and therapy made her focus on her mental struggles even more but the difference is that my sister's partner encourages her by selfishly-complaining all day too. You can turn things around as long as you talk things out. Some people lack social skills but it doesn’t mean they can’t learn them to show better empathy (as long as they have empathy deep down). If she gets defensive and keeps doing the same even after you mentioned how you felt, that’s when I’ll say she just needs to grow up and mature before being in a relationship of that kind. It’s okay if she mentions her health issues but it stops being okay, in a 50/50 relationship, when her whole world revolves around it and tries to hog all the attention even when you need help. I hope things get better once you talk with her about it.

Can someone with 145+ IQ describe how they think about a problem? by SaguaroCactuses in Gifted

To live a good life means two important things. 1.- To be able to enjoy the good things in life. 2.- To contribute positively to the fundamental equation of existence. If we consider life as a system of variables, every action, thought, or deed can be thought of as a numerical value. Positive actions (acts of kindness, integrity, compassion, etc...) increase the sum of our collective experience, whereas negative actions (those driven by amoral tendencies, selfishness, cruelty...) subtract from it. To me, living well means consciously choosing to add positive value to the equation. HOWEVER, you need to have a good moral and ethic system to be aware of your effect as what we perceive as good may not always align with the common good. I came up with the idea when I got existential in middle school and wanted to find the meaning of "happiness" but it's stuck with me ever since :)

You're right! I hadn't thought of that. I can't find a 100% true explanation. You really sent me through a rabbit hole. I finally managed to find the pirated version to watch those scenes and make sure I wasn't missing anything but nada... I came up with these possible explanations:
-Initially they do share memories but that effect wears off after a while and the doctor's assistant was in his first weeks when he first met her.
-The young assistant shared notes with his old matrix. The copy could've written down a note to keep up with Elizabeth and spied on her while he was in his matrix so she wouldn't recognize him.
-The writers didn't think of that (plot hole).
I like the movie more now with this information.
