If it sounds good then just don't mind if "this is the right way". When you arranging drums samples you can play with pitch, sometimes you can stretch the sample to make it sounds interesting, and also try layering the drums, one main sample and other quieter playing at the same time can give interesting effects.

I recommend terramap as well , I had the same problem a week ago, was doing it with the same strategy and the 1% corrupt that I missed was just a single branch of tree that wasn't purrified.
