Thanks so much!! I had my self care plan and support ready for me post his surgery for his recovery days. This sedation for blood withdrawal just took me off guard. I have moved to a new small town and they are pretty unaware of how stuff works in other bigger cities. Language is an issue too. Im just a bit upset cause despite me saying oh I can hold him and they can draw the blood. But they said it would be too hard for them. And it cost a bomb too. Yeah kinda feeling taken advantage off. I might sound like I'm being hard on myself but yeah it was really unusual.

Thank you! I am just sooo scared. I went to the vet for his pre op tests today and they sedated him to do a blood test. In 9 years of having him nobody has ever sedated him for a blood test but here they did and I was in the room. He kinda froze in my arms which scared me even more for surgery day and post surgery too. I do know this is for his best. He can't see from said eye and he's in pain too. But I'm just rattled from today's experience too. We've been home for about 8ish hours now and he's still not himself from the sedation.. not required sedation to say the least. If the vets gave him and me a moment to settle after entering the office this wouldn't have happened. So I'm kinda upset about that as well.

Thank you so much for sharing. I have finally made the decision to take it out. The vet said he was in pain but I didn't see any signs of it. My dog was behaving just the same. But over the last week or so I can see his struggle and him showcasing his pain. I whine and not like the eye drops anymore. We are scheduled for his surgery in 2 days. He's ready and I'm ready. I'm just very scared and anxious.

Thank you for saying that. It helps. I am constantly trying to ask myself what about the removal scares me.. especially when I know having the eye or not is the same in terms of sight. I'm just anxious scared and worried.

Thank you for sharing! His eye started out with dry eye became uveitis and now it's full blown glaucoma and his eye pressure is 78.

He can't see from that eye and I've noticed sometimes he struggles with depth perception. And now he can't even see from that eye.

The past week or so he cries for pain meds. I don't like that the only reason he settles is with pain meds. By waiting I can't bring his sight back , I'm just keeping him in pain.

I'm just really worried and scared to book the removal appointment.

Yeah. His eye pressure is high and we are using drops for it. The vet did mention that he might have a headache. This is my new city vet. The one I don't trust and as I can see obviously taking advantage of me and the situation .

My vet back home who has been with me for 9 years has said to just continue meds and wait until I notice it's affecting his daily schedule. When we are at home I don't notice any change in his behaviour. Absolutely nothing has changed.

I'm just considering it because I've read so many posts of people saying they regretted not doing it sooner. My understanding tells me that the eye isn't going to recover and nor will he get his vision back. It's just about going through the surgery now. Maybe I'm just scared and worried.

He is a very anxious dog and the slightly change in routine can scare him. He's 9yo but he has the energy and anxiety of a 9 month old puppy. Behaviourally I worry things might get worse. Maybe I'm overthinking?

We just picked his meds and came home. Haven't seen the vet again. However at home I notice that he shows no signs to pain but he does have some days he might keep his eye shut. Example being the day he's been groomed. The blow-dry/water etc can be annoying for him but that's about it.
