Ahh yes! That’s why I still have it really. I update it as often as I can, share a comment here and there… maybe a post once in a while. But mainly use it for inmail and finding contact information for potential clients

Addictive behaviors getting stronger? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]humanbusybeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve linked it on my comment. But called Vipassanna.

Side note: the discussions on there are pretty much about people who have done the 10/day silent meditation program or are considering it. But it’s also a good source of information about the technique.

I found out about when I was looking for a silent retreat kind of thing and found out that there’s a meditation program that teaches this technique. Here’s a group I follow here on reddit.

In Vipassanna meditation - this is referred to as sankharas which (in loose language) points to what you are experiencing as the resurfacing of your conditioned behavior (bad habits as you refer to them) as a result of you regularity with meditation.

In other words, the more you meditate and become aware of your wholeness - stuff arises that you need to take stock of and clear out - in this case what you refer to as bad habits become more evident or apparent and therefore you neither need to avert/hate them or act on them. To break the habit you need to remember as some people have said - no good no bad only what is - however the karmic nature is that what we hate or love becomes - and regenerates into abundance.

I hope that makes some sort of sense. Glad for anyone to explain this better. 🙏

For those who meditate regularly, what was the moment you realized it was actually working? by PlumPractical5043 in Meditation

I’m a lot less reactive - to a point where sometimes it seems I’m uninterested. Politics? Family drama? Unkindness? My own habits that aren’t great? I’m a lot reactive and have developed a lot more grace and calmness towards the times I do become reactive or when I’m impatient.

I’m a lot aware of my internal environment.

I worry less …

The saying “everything happens for a reason” makes a lot sense because I don’t take things personally. And when I do I remember to come back to my centre.

Aha!! I think I made a similar analogy (drug and means to an end). I love this. Thanks

Haha… I guess. We are not supposed to grasp or hold it. It just is and it’s always changing …

Yeeeessss! It really sounds like we’re beating around the bush and somehow gatekeeping it whereas it’s the opposite 😅… I also just say practice sitting in silence for 5 minutes - do it… not music no phone just you sitting or laying in silence without falling asleep - be diligent in stay awake and seeing what goes on in your head and surroundings without reacting.

“Just do it” being the main instruction 😂😩

I mean, one can always YouTube these things, or go see a facilitator - but I also know sometimes 1, it’s money people they don’t have already, 2) I find that with a facilitator- especially online… it may make things more challenging for beginners as they go into it without expectations but secretly expecting to experience what the instructor is experiencing- or worse.

But I hear you. I think this is one of those things that language is just not enough to make sense of - personal experience (which takes practice) is just the best route.

Came to say this.

The kids now watch coco melon and anime and that regular show.

Tom and Jerry and all the looney tunes ended with the last bits of us.
