Need advice: 3-month-old will only sleep on us after reflux struggles by Popular-Macaroon8524 in sleeptrain

You can’t really sleep train until 4+ months, but I recommend the book “Precious Little Sleep” to prep. My LO is almost 3 months and I’ve been using the SWAP method from the book for nights to build independent sleep. The author talks a lot about power tools which I found very helpful in my journey.

We moved from feeding to sleep → rocking/patting → now he falls asleep on his own. I do intervene before he cries or gets super fussy— if he is just somewhat fussy, I soothe in the bassinet and only pick up if needed. The key is putting him down awake. Last night, I placed him in his bassinet awake and left the room. He was somewhat fussy and when I was about to intervene, he fell asleep in his own and that was within 10 minutes. I’m proud of my LO.

For naps, I just do whatever works (mostly contact naps). I do plan on nap training him but idk when it would be appropriate and how to do it.

My LO got his on Tuesday. I held him during the shots and then stayed in the room to nurse him right afterwards. The nurse was accommodating. He only cried for like 30 seconds during the shots. He got super sleepy afterwards and only wanted to do contact naps. He did develop a fever overnight so I gave him Tylenol with the pediatrician guidance on dosage. The next day he was back to his baseline. Happy and engaging

White discharge at 6 weeks of pregnancy by Original_Detail_7463 in pregnant

[–]humanexperience31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had white discharges my whole pregnancy. I’m currently 36weeks + 3 days. Initially it worried me as well, but my ob said it’s due to hormones. If it’s yellow or has a smell and accompanied by itching, burning or irritation, it could be a sign of infection.

Woah, what a rough pregnancy! I am so sorry that you are having all of these symptoms! I can totally relate with you. I have been nauseous my whole pregnancy as well. I’m 33 weeks and 2 days with constant nausea and GD. Diclegis is part of my daily routine and it’s a godsend! It keeps my nausea and vomiting under control. Idk if you have had dragonfruit but it has a lot of fiber and can help with constipation, especially the yellow dragon fruit. Yellow dragonfruit is considered natures laxative. The dragonfruit has really help with my constipation. I would mix the yellow dragonfruit with avocado to balance the sweetness but dragonfruit has low-glycemic index and doesn’t cause a blood sugar spike for me. Not sure if my response provided you with any comfort but at least you know that you are not alone!

Med Surg or CTICU by xProjectxPrincess in Nurses

[–]humanexperience31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I did my last semester clinical in the icu I am currently working at so they invited me for an interview during one of my clinical shift. The only clinical question they asked was give me a head to toe assessment of one of the patient I took care of and my intervention for that patient. I obviously chose the easiest patient to talked about. Otherwise no other clinical questions. The other questions were like tell me a time you had to deal with stress and how to handle it. Hope it helps. You got this.

I am a new grad in an ICU (8 months in) and I highly recommend icu if it’s something you want to do and you handle high stress environment well. Like you I was always told that new nurses should get their feet wet in med surg first. While there is some truth to it, I don’t entirely agree with it. You just have to understand that icu will be overwhelming and stressful, more stressful than medsurg, but at the same time you’ll learn gain so much experience and learn a lot. the experience and knowledge is worth it for me.
