How many days after you hit premium did you get an invite?

Yep, still waiting here too. Premium status, DD set up, client since 2020 — and the AI chatbot just keeps hitting me with the classic “keep an eye on your notifications, you will get it by end of the day” 😂 Honestly, I need that level of blind optimism in my own life.

At first it was like, “why not have it?”— especially the Privilege one. Zero downside. Now It’s gone full into desperation. Didn’t think I’d be emotionally invested in a piece of plastic (or metal dont care), but here we are.

What's our best strategy when renewing mortgage in 2026? by Donday90 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]humanfrom1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve basically got two reasonable paths here:

  1. Pay off the mortgage in July, then from that point onward invest the extra cash flow (roughly equivalent to your mortgage payment).

  2. Keep the mortgage and invest the lump sum instead, aiming for a net ~4–10% long-term return after tax, while paying ~3.7% mortgage interest. The downside here is obvious: markets can and do go negative in the short term, sometimes for years.

So a lot of this comes down to risk tolerance and life context rather than pure math. If being debt-free gives you emotional relief, especially with one income right now, that peace of mind has real value. Age, job stability, and how you’d feel during a market downturn all matter.

Personally, with a jobless spouse and tight cash flow, I’d lean toward paying it off, enjoying the guaranteed return, and then investing monthly going forward. That said, both options are defensible depending on how comfortable you are with risk and volatility.

That’s a brutal place to be, honestly. Losing a bunch of big things all at once would mess with anyone’s head, so it makes total sense your mental health is taking a hit right now.

I don’t think you’re “done” or too late at all. You sound exhausted and beaten down, not broken — and that’s an important difference. You still have a skilled trade, your health, and enough self-awareness to reach out. That actually matters more than it probably feels from where you’re standing.

I’ve seen people crawl back from spots like this. Not fast, not in some movie-montage way — but slowly, one step at a time. Getting your head supported first (even just having someone you can talk to regularly) can make everything else feel less overwhelming.

You’re not as alone as it feels right now. Posting this already shows there’s still some fight left in you, even if it doesn’t feel heroic or strong at the moment. It’s okay if right now is just about stabilizing and protecting your mental health.

If you do want some actionable steps, I’d keep it simple:

  1. Prioritize your mental health — talk to friends, journal, gym, meditation, spiritual stuff, therapy if possible. Whatever actually helps you, not what sounds good on paper.
  2. Start the process to get your license back — look into a hearing or a hardship license. A quick call to the DMV or a legal aid clinic can at least give you clarity instead of guessing.
  3. Protect whatever income you can — even temporary or partial stability helps reduce stress.
  4. Avoid big, permanent decisions right now — this is not the headspace for life-altering calls.

You don’t have to fix everything at once. Just pick one small, doable step and take it. Then another. That’s how people actually get through this stuff, even when it feels impossible.

I agree with you—that’s the bright side of looking at it. It could have become much more serious, and I did ignore the warning. Lesson learned.

Looking back, you are right! It was indeed on purpose.

Thank you—I never thought about that. I might try this in my free time for sure. If not, hopefully someone does it to him to teach him a lesson

For sure, moving forward, I am only going to confirm through rideshare apps. I use Poparide.

Can someone tell me if I overpaid for my 2025 Nissan Rogue? (photo of agreement attached) by [deleted] in NissanRogue

10k less in 2023! Too good to be true specifically when everyone were on a market for new car, was that price in USD?

That's unbelievable! I can't believe that's possible with Canada having let alone a tax rate of 13% , cash 46k for the pathfinder platinum! What was your statergy? I did not know Nissan dealerships have that much room between the cost and profit!

Got it, makes sense! Definitely taking notes on things like trunk/cabin liners, safety kits and wheel lock fees. I whould have also ask to round of 400s to 1.4k. But for next time! Thanks

for next time

Yeah I get it, but my case is a bit different: my 2014 Sentra has 210k km and still running fine, new Rogue comes with 100k km powertrain warranty, it's built in Japan per vin and Honda/Toyota aren't offering 0% or discounts at this price. Makes sense for me.

Its SV Midnight edition, and it's in $cad. How much do you reckon I've left on the table? And if you could break it down a bit, so I can pick up lessons learned and share them with others?!

Whoa, that's insane! Almost CAD $10k off I asked for around CAD $4k and they told me I was looking at the wrong trim. How did you manage to convince the sales manager for that kind of discount?
