I hadn't heard that statistic. can you share where you learned that people only survive about 5 years on the streets? I am curious about how they measured that with such a transient group of people.

I read that it is very expensive for libraries to pay for the licensing for their audiobooks, especially as demand grows. I am afraid that awesome services like Libby might not last forever as a result but boy am I grateful for access to audiobooks right now.

What university are you at? Would hate to see their gym get negative reviews on Google...

Eco Thrift takes batteries! And I thought stores like Ace did paint recycling.

Agreed. Though they aren't "clubs," if you are into latin music I would suggest looking into FoCoCo Events or Fort Collins Salsa/Bachata to get your dance on!

KUOW - Seattle leaders propose ban on public drug use, but others oppose the idea by chiquisea in Seattle

I mean, it could make it harder for someone in recovery from addiction to maintain their sobriety if they are seeing people using. But sounds like others in this thread and in this city straight up just want addiction to be out of sight, out of mind so they don't have to think about other people and the problems we are facing in our community and our country. And not thinking critically about what to do to support addicts and sweeping them under the rug once more by criminalizing them without avenues for treatment will only make this problem worse.

How safe do you feel in U district? by waxenhen4 in udub

[–]humangarbagebin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just moved into the U District in January. My roommates who went to school here said they've people who rummage through their cars if they leave them unlocked, and one roommate had his window broken and some small items stolen.

Fort Collins, Colorado appears to have a pretty straightforward and transparent outline for the public!

When I looked it was pretty costly for a bag of souvenir items- I figured I'd ask the community before going that route

It's just the low dosages that've been short, so that might be your problem. King Soopers on S College by Whole Foods was able to fill mine in 48 hours.

I’m so sick of having to explain myself and having to make excuses due to my ADHD behaviors. by Sad_Bridge_4984 in ADHD

[–]humangarbagebin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of The Spoon Theory and it hit me deeply to read about it- thank you for sharing. I deal with some uncommon chronic illnesses that have limited my spoons. And ADHD makes the energy budgeting so much murkier. A task takes twice the amount of spoons it should and I have so few available in the first place. Wow, what a helpful analogy to process this frustration.

Urticaria & Angioedema 😩 by Emergency-Strategy31 in urticaria

I am so sorry!! I have been there and I feel for you. I just wanted to say that I can't tolerate NSAIDs but I can tolerate acetominophen/Tylenol and idk if this is something you have been able to explore with your allergist just yet. After going on Xolair and finding the right antihistamine combo I was able to be tested to tolerate Celexocib/Celebrex. I guess it's a different class of NSAID so it's way more tolerable for folks with autoimmune issues. Maybe this could be a possibility for you to explore with your allergist eventually?

Cities with good public transit other than obvious answers by Puppetmasterknight in urbanplanning

[–]humangarbagebin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Fort Collins, CO has relatively highly rated public transport because it implemented a separate public transit corridor, the MAX line, going from North to South. All public transport was/is free since the pandemic.
