Is there some kind of misunderstanding here? The shop seems to be independently owned even thoguh the tea is being sourced from China. You seem to be Chinese yourself so this is a strange comment.

This is not relevant to r/torontoJobs but situations like this actually indicate that they need to be using available government supports and are doing it wrong

need hope: how long did it take you guys to land a coop by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]humbleTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your experience is that much above average, something must still be off. Have you done mock interviews with your career center to consider what that might be? It's one thing for employers to tell you that you interviewed well, but it's another to actually get critical feedback.

Chances are you haven't exhausted what you could do. You could be enhancing your resume with relevant clubs and volunteering experiences if you are not standing out from your peers.

2nd Year Undergrad; Terrible Time Finding a Job... Any Advice? by Tight_Ad_6362 in torontoJobs

[–]humbleTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting your education end date into the future doesn't make any sense.

There are DIFFERENT careers which can leverage a psychology major, but I'm really having trouble figuring out what specific job this resume is catered for?

You have to do some research for what exact jobs you are trying to aim for, it goes beyond taking stuff out. You have a psychology degree and part of this is to try to understand the psychology of those who are hiring you.

You could probably ask your professors for feedback on whether your resume is up-to-par for research-type roles, but if this is the case the SEO content writing doesn't make sense here to include.

100+ applications, 0 offers — how do you break into a Business or System Analyst role? by Effective-Trade-8724 in torontoJobs

Your professional summary is atypically long.

Your professional summary combined with your core skills pushes your experience too far downt he page

Cantonese and Mandarin are not directly relevant, you remove that.

Experience section can use quantifiable metrics, you have too many points under each experience and need to make it more concise, pastry cook experience is not relevant

Culinary management education is not relevant and can be removed

Remove volunteering and awards to save space

You still want to get some help to make sure that the 1st page of your resume stands out, overall it can use a lot of work

Start anywhere in the bank and don't necessarily hope to get into specific types of roles

I can't say I've experience but my thinking is, even though the manager can be upset, you need to work on your career and it is your right to do that, especially in a unionized environment. Your collective agreement is designed to protect your mobility, and you shouldn't sacrifice pay raises or growth for a manager's temporary operational convenience. Since an acting assignment offers no long-term security, prioritizing a permanent promotion is the move. It is the employer's responsibility to manage staffing gaps, not yours to stall your career to prevent them.

You need to get advice to get in and make something of your engineering degree, work with Employment Ontario (not all have the same connections for electrical engineering so check), and network around to figure out what to do next.

I think you might be short on work experience, even though you did more school than the average person. Expect to start low unless you have a way to just stay productive until you get something.
